Fantasy Hockey Playoff Sleepers

Beckett Sennecke – Anaheim Ducks

For most of the season, the spotlight has been on Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlsson in Anaheim, but Beckett Sennecke shouldn’t be overlooked heading into the playoffs. Since the Olympic break, he’s recorded 7 points in 5 games and just eclipsed 20 goals on the year. However, he’s still only 50% rostered in Yahoo leagues and has been passed over for talent with more name value. If Sennecke is still sitting on the waiver-wire, the right-winger could be a game-changer when it comes to improving scoring categories down the stretch.

Kiefer Sherwood – San Jose Sharks

Last year, Kiefer Sherwood was one of the most sought-after forwards in fantasy hockey, but after being traded to San Jose and suffering from an injury this season, his value has slightly diminished. In the five games he’s played for the Sharks, Sherwood has logged 2 points, but he’s returned to his usual physical play, having thrown 28 hits. If Sherwood can be the goalscorer he was on the Vancouver Canucks, managers would be smart to add him now, as he’s a player who never fails to target multiple fantasy categories.

Alex Lyon and Ukko Pekka Luukkonen – Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo’s unexpected success can be attributed to talent like Tage Thompson and Alex Tuch, but their goaltending tandem still hasn’t received the credit it deserves. This season, Alex Lyon and Ukko Pekka Luukkonen have averaged a save percentage of 0.912, with both goaltenders avoiding a loss since the Olympic break. Having one of the two Buffalo netminders is a privilege, but with Lyon and Luukkonen splitting time in the crease, rostering the tandem is ideal as the Sabres continue their hot streak.

Going forward, fantasy managers can’t afford to roster underperformers, and Sennecke, Sherwood, Lyon, and Luukkonen are great replacements for players who have started to disappoint. Make sure to return next week for more fantasy hockey playoff advice.
