Picks from Week 8 TNF
We went 6-for-10 on our player prop picks in Week 8. Unfortunately, despite a solid overall performance from Josh Jacobs, he struggled to find room on the ground against the Panthers, averaging just 1.9 yards per carry and finishing with 39 rushing yards. Jordan Love was forced to throw more than expected, finishing with 288 passing yards and going over his 263.5-yard line. Despite the Panthers trailing for at least half the game, Tetairoa McMillan couldn’t take advantage of the game script, finishing with just 58 receiving yards and falling short of his 70.5-yard line. Savion Williams was another disappointment, disappearing from the offense and finishing with just 5 receiving yards. While we managed to hit 60% of our picks, there were a few missed opportunities that could have made Week 8 even better. We’ll look to build on that success heading into Week 9!

We have a Thursday Night Football showdown between the Jacksonville Jaguars and a Baltimore Ravens team that will be without its starting quarterback. With Jacksonville entering as a heavy favorite, there are several interesting player props to target on both sides of the ball.
Starting with the Jaguars, Trevor Lawrence gets a favorable matchup against a Ravens defense that has struggled in recent weeks. However, this game doesn’t project to be particularly competitive or high-scoring, with a spread of more than 10 points and a low projected point total. When Lawrence finishes with fewer than 30 passing attempts, his yardage tends to suffer. In 5 games with fewer than 30 attempts this season, Lawrence has surpassed 237.5 passing yards just once, back in Week 1. I expect a similar outcome here, where Lawrence won’t be needed to throw as often, making under 237.5 passing yards an appealing play.
While Lawrence’s passing numbers could be limited, he has shown a solid rushing floor this season. Lawrence has surpassed 9.5 rushing yards in 3 games this year, and this matchup could provide another opportunity. The Ravens blitz at the 9th-highest rate in the league, which could force Lawrence out of the pocket more frequently. With his ability to extend plays and pick up yards on the ground, I like Lawrence over 9.5 rushing yards in this matchup.
One player I’m targeting, assuming he’s healthy enough to play, is Bhayshul Tuten. The Jaguars running back has scored a touchdown in 4 of his 7 games this season, while the Ravens have allowed a rushing or receiving touchdown to a running back in 3 consecutive games. We’ve also continued to see running backs find the end zone on Thursday Night Football, including both starting backs last week. With Jacksonville expected to lean on its rushing attack, Tuten should have plenty of opportunities near the goal line. I like Tuten to score an anytime touchdown in this matchup. You could also take a gamble on Chris Rodriguez Jr. if Tuten is limited or ruled out Thursday.
The final Jaguars player I’m targeting is Jakobi Meyers, who has a favorable matchup against a vulnerable Ravens secondary. Baltimore has allowed at least 1 outside receiver to produce 60 receiving yards in every game this season. Outside of Brian Thomas Jr., Meyers is one of Jacksonville’s primary perimeter weapons, running 66% of his routes out wide. While Meyers has surpassed 38.5 receiving yards in just 3 of his 7 games this season, this matchup provides an excellent opportunity to improve those numbers. Given Baltimore’s struggles defending outside receivers, I’m confident Meyers can surpass 38.5 receiving yards in Week 9.
Moving over to the Ravens, Derrick Henry should see a heavy workload on Thursday Night Football. Henry is averaging 22.4 rushing attempts in games without Lamar Jackson, and Baltimore will now have to rely on a rookie quarterback with limited experience. The Ravens should look to put the ball in Henry’s hands as often as possible to control the game against a Jaguars run defense that has been tested throughout the season. Jacksonville has allowed opposing backfields to combine for more than 20 rushing attempts, giving Henry a realistic opportunity to see significant volume. I’m taking Henry over 17.5 rushing attempts in this matchup.
Similar to Tuten, I’m also targeting Henry to score an anytime touchdown. Henry has found the end zone in 8 of his 11 career Thursday games, showing his ability to produce in these primetime matchups. He also accounts for 86% of Baltimore’s carries inside the 10-yard line, making him the clear favorite to receive goal-line opportunities. If the Ravens can move the ball into the red zone, Henry should be the player they lean on to finish drives.
As mentioned earlier, rookie quarterback Joe Fagnano is expected to make his 1st career start in Week 9 against the Jaguars. Jacksonville’s defense has been a turnover machine this season, recording at least 1 interception in 6 of its 7 games. Fagnano has already committed 2 turnovers despite attempting just 21 passes, which doesn’t inspire much confidence heading into this matchup. With his limited experience and Jacksonville’s ability to generate turnovers, I like Fagnano over 0.5 interceptions in this matchup.
Next up is Zay Flowers, who is coming off a disappointing performance in which he finished with 0 receptions and 0 receiving yards. I don’t expect that trend to continue in Week 9, especially with Baltimore likely facing a negative game script that forces the Ravens to throw more often. The Jaguars allow the 4th-most 1st downs per route run, while Flowers ranks 6th among all receivers in that category. That matchup should encourage Joe Fagnano and the Ravens to get the ball out quickly to their top receiver, allowing Flowers to create yardage after the catch. With Baltimore potentially playing from behind for much of the game, Flowers over 48.5 receiving yards looks like an appealing line.
Finally, Justice Hill could be in line for a productive receiving performance in Week 9. Hill was targeted on 33% of Joe Fagnano’s pass attempts last week. I expect Baltimore to continue using Hill in the short passing game to limit mistakes and help Fagnano avoid unnecessary pressure. Jacksonville has allowed at least 3 receptions to opposing backfields this season, while Hill has surpassed this line in each of his last 3 games. With the Ravens likely needing to throw more often, I like Hill over 2.5 receptions in this matchup.
Sticking with Hill, I’m also targeting over 14.5 receiving yards. If he can surpass 2.5 receptions, he should have a strong opportunity to clear this relatively low yardage line. The Jaguars have allowed a running back to produce more than 24 receiving yards in 3 of their last 4 games, while Hill has reached that mark in back-to-back contests. His involvement in the passing game should remain valuable, especially if Baltimore is forced to play from behind. With Fagnano likely looking for quick, high-percentage throws, Hill has a realistic opportunity to surpass both of his receiving props on Thursday night.
Preferred Parlay for This Matchup (+1700)
- Jakobi Meyers — Over 38.5 Receiving Yards
- Zay Flowers — Over 48.5 Receiving Yards
- Derrick Henry — Anytime Touchdown
- Justice Hill — Over 2.5 Receptions
- Justice Hill — Over 14.5 Receiving Yards
