For a week with several high over/under’s heading into it, Week Four was fairly low scoring. Texas Tech and Oklahoma State didn’t deliver, Malcolm Perry went down early against SMU, and not many people played any Old Dominion players in a surprising two-score win over Virginia Tech. With notable injuries to Josh Jackson and Jeremy Larkin, owners are looking for heavily available players to replace key contributors and with that being said, I present to you the top Week 4 CFF waiver wire pickups.

Sophomore Jeremy Larkin will retire from football, effective immediately, due to a recent diagnosis of cervical stenosis. The condition is not life threatening but prevents continued participation in football.https://t.co/5BZO8naHCn#B1GCats pic.twitter.com/0XKWqvhd1J

Week 4 CFF Waiver Wire
Quarterbacks
Mitchell Guadagni, Toledo
Ownership: 10%
After the week he had, it should come as a surprise to no one that Mitchell Guidagni comes in first on this list. After unexpectedly beating out fellow Toledo quarterback Eli Peters for the starting job many owners had a wait and see kind of attitude for the sophomore. Now, we’ve waited and seen that the kid belongs on fantasy rosters. Guadagni tore up Nevada this week with six total touchdowns and led the Rockets in rushing and passing in the process. The receiving talent at Toledo makes it easy for him to throw touchdown passes and his dual-threat ability is what has helped him become the third best fantasy option at quarterback over the last two weeks.
Quentin Harris, Duke
Ownership: >5%
With Daniel Jones done for the season, many believed that Duke would become an irrelevant team in terms of fantasy but they seem to have found a suitable replacement in Quentin Harris. Harris has had back-to-back games with three passing touchdowns and over 25 fantasy points against Baylor and NC Central. Given that he hasn’t had the toughest of competition so far, not many ACC Coastal division teams have done much to cement themselves as the top dog and Harris should continue to play hard outside of the VT and Miami games in which he might have trouble. Outside of that, there should be multiple fun games as Harris goes up against Pitt, Georgia Tech, Virginia, and North Carolina.
Others to Consider
Ian Book Notre Dame, >5%; Jarrett Doege Bowling Green, 12%
Running Back
Toa Taua, Nevada
Ownership: >5%
Toa Taua played incredibly against Toledo this past weekend. Taua was incredibly close to making my Impact Freshmen piece during the offseason but Kelton Moore looked to be the cemented starter for the Wolfpack going into the season. In the last two weeks, the brother of Nevada-great Vai Taua has gotten double-digit carries and made the most of them last week with 170 yards and three scores against Toledo. Jay Norvell seems to want to give Taua the ball more and more and he will excel against weaker Mountain West defenses.
John Moten IV, Northwestern
Ownership: >1%
Jeremy Larkin was an incredible football player. As expressed earlier, Larkin has had to retire from the game of football due to cervical stenosis which is not life-threatening but ultimately ends his promising playing career. The next man up for the Northwestern Wildcats is John Moten IV. It’s hard to be clear on the talent level of Moten who only has 12 carries this season but it’s not hard to figure out the Northwestern wants to run the ball. If Larkin was your bell-cow back leading into Week 5, why not pick up his backup?
Others to Consider
Jordan Cronkrite USF, 12%; Gerold Bright Utah State, 5%; JaTarvious Whitlow Auburn, 26%
Wide Receivers
Jamarius Way, South Alabama
Jamarius Way has quietly become the fourth highest scoring wide receiver of the past two weeks. Against Texas State and Memphis, Way combined for 21 receptions, 358 receiving yards, and two scores and doesn’t appear to be stopping anytime soon as USA enters into their conference schedule. I understand that the Jaguars don’t have the flashiest of football programs but any receiver that’s getting double-digit receptions is hard to ignore.
Isaiah Zuber, Kansas State
So there’s no getting past it, Kansas State is not that good at football this season. On the bright side, they have a competent passer in Skylar Thompson who loves to throw the ball to Junior Isaiah Zuber. Zuber is coming off back-to-back games with over a hundred yards and has seen his touches increase every week since Week 2. Kansas State will have no choice but to throw the ball against more high octane offenses in Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, and TCU in the upcoming weeks. The slot receiver should continue to give us similar receiving numbers from week to week considering he will lead the Wildcats in receptions for the second year in a row.

Dillon Mitchell Oregon, 7%; Shun Brown Arizona, 6%; Darnell Salomon USF, 2%
