Welcome to our Top 25 Goalie Rankings with just a month left to go in the season. If you’re in a head to head league, you are surely keeping a close eye on the goalie trends every night. Playoffs would be coming soon in your league, if they haven’t started already. Getting quality goaltending can easily make or break your season.
Free Fallers
Tristan Jarry was having a phenomenal season, and he was at or near the top in GAA and save percentage for a good chunk of the campaign. However, he’s faltered as of late, and hasn’t won a game since Feb. 18. Matt Murray has begun eating into his starts, and we could see a more even share of the work load between Jarry and Murray the rest of the way.
It feels strange not having such a staple in the rankings, but Carey Price has fallen out of the top 25. Price hasn’t been playing at his best, and the team in front of him hasn’t been making life any easier. Price has allowed four goals against in five of his last eight games, and has posted a save percentage below .900 in six of his last nine meetings.
High Risers
Connor Hellebuyck is playing excellent hockey. He’s won three of his last four, while posting a pair of shutouts in the process. He boasts a 29-21-5 record, with a 2.59 GAA, .921 save percentage, and a league leading six shutouts. He should be considered a favorite to win the Vezina Trophy. He’s carried the Jets on his back to keep their season alive, and he can do the same for you.
Carter Hart has soared into the top five, jumping 19 spots in the rankings. He’s won seven straight contests, and won 10 of his past 11. He sports a 24-12-3 record, with a 2.43 GAA and .913 save percentage. After showing flashes of brilliance in his rookie season, he’s progressing quite well in his sophomore year.
Newbies
Juuse Saros has long been seen as the future in net for the Nashville Predators. He’s been given several opportunities to take the reigns, but just hasn’t been able to put it all together… until now. He’s fully taken over as Nashville’s No. 1, appearing in eight straight matches. He had an ugly outing against Edmonton where he allowed four goals on 10 shots, but he’s since posted back to back shutouts over the Dallas Stars.
Alex Stalock is having a breakout year. With a career high 12 wins, he’s already cracked the 20-win plateau. With Devan Dubnyk struggling, Stalock has become the main man in the Minnesota crease. He’s won six of his last eight appearances, and has the Wild right in the thick of the playoff race. Just being in the race is enough to know that Minnesota won’t be taking any nights off, which bodes very well for anyone relying on Stalock.
