My center rankings are the final stop on a trip that has taken us across the five major positions. A lot of managers will reach to secure a big-man. Because of this, they are generally highly sought after early in drafts. I have Karl-Anthony Towns in the number one center spot this season due primarily to his durability. Therefore, he is marginally ahead of Nikola Jokic who himself, remains a solid first-round player. Joel Embiid could put up first-round numbers but the games missed concern me making him more of a second-round guy.
There are then a few nice pockets of value scattered throughout the top 100. There is a world where I could see up to seven centers going in the second round due to statistical need. Mitchell Robinson may find it hard to return value on his ADP given the early hype. Bam Adebayo and Wendell Carter are likely to climb as draft season edges closer with both of them in favorable situations. Personally, I love Steven Adams and Derrick Favors for this season. Adams could see an increase to his rebounding numbers, to the point on finishing as a top-five player in that category. Alternatively, Favors is back in his preferred position and could very well return to being a solid top-50 player.
Tiers can be important when preparing for your draft. They often provide you with a plan B, something that is often required. Fantasy Basketball managers are certainly beginning draft preparations earlier each season. The content is improving and becoming more readily available, meaning the quality of leagues is typically increasing. My center rankings, as part of the Fantrax fantasy basketball draft guide, should have you ready to roll come October.
