Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendations for Week 10
Running Backs
Kalen Ballage (51 percent owned in Fantrax leagues): The four-game suspension of Mark Walton puts the second-year RB back in a position to take over the lead role. Ballage looked promising late last season and in the preseason, but when the lights went on for real in 2019 he became a symbol of just how bad Miami looked for the first few weeks of the season. He has not rushed for more than 20 yards in a game, and was occasionally successful as a goal-line specialist. He often looked confused and ineffective. But now he gets a chance to carry frequently and get into a rhythm as a runner. If he continues to look like a disoriented pro, rookies Patrick Laird and Myles Gaskin are the next guys up at RB for Miami.
Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: 25 percent of your budget. Opportunity does always lead to production, and that is the potential case here.
J.D. McKissic (32 percent owned): He caught a 26-yard TD pass in Week 9 and totaled 72 yards from scrimmage and fits well in a pass-heavy Lions offense. The Detroit running back stable has been thinned out and McKissic now stands out as the best receiving RB the team has, and they may use him frequently as they regularly play out of passing sets.
Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: 15 percent of your budget.
Ronald Jones (79): He should be available on some other sites, especially in 10-teamers, so make sure you consult your free agent list. It’s been a long time coming, but Bruce Arians confirmed early this week that Jones will now get his chance to be a true lead back in Tampa Bay. Jones rushed for 67 yards and a TD at Seattle in Week 9. He’ll produce even better if he consistently runs with more authority. At times, I call him “Boogie Nights” (Lyric: “Got to keep on dancin’, keep on dancin’).
Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: 40 percent of your budget. He is finally running with more apparent confidence and he still has some upside.
Wide Receivers
Zach Pascal (40): Apparently many Fantasy owners wanted to take a wait and see approach on Pascal, who stepped into the injured T.Y, Hilton’s place as the top wide receiver for the Colts in week 9. Pascal delivered quality production, catching five passes for 76 yards and a TD. In Week 7, he caught six passes for 106 yards and two TDs, so it’s surprising he was not more widely added. Hilton will be out a few weeks, so you should certainly invest in Pascal.
Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: 30 percent of your budget.
DeVante Parker (71): He is more likely available on other sites, as Parker was a longtime source of Fantasy frustration prior to this season. But this year he has become a respectable producer and has scored in four of his last five games. With Preston Williams done for the season, Parker now gets even more targets from the gunslinging Ryan Fitzpatrick, so he can be a high-end Fantasy WR4 going forward.
Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: 25 percent
Josh Gordon (74): He should be more readily available on other platforms, and is ideally a 12-team add. Gordon will likely slide in as the new third WR in a very deep Seattle crew. Russell Wilson will look for him as a downfield playmaker when he uses play-action or breaks the pocket. Gordon will get opportunities to make plays on 50/50 balls, which DK Metcalf has not been able to do often enough. Gordon will also serve as a scoring target in goal-line area situations. There will be weekly possibilities for big plays, but Gordon will be more of a prominent secondary option with the Seahawks. He could be a three- to four-catch, 50 to 70-yard type as a baseline.
Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: 15 percent of your budget
Tight Ends
Noah Fant (54): A tremendously talented rookie, Fant demonstrated what he is capable of in Week 9, with a 75 yard catch-and-run TD. He finished with 115 receiving yards, and more highlights should be ahead. Fant has tremendous quickness and gears for a big guy, and will eventually evolve into a top Fantasy TE. He is also looking like a good bet to become the true No. 2 option in the Denver passing game with Emmanuel Sanders gone.
Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: 15 percent
Mike Gesicki (27): We told you about him before, but this may be your last chance to grab Gesicki before he starts to truly emerge as a quality Fantasy option. He delivered his best performance yet, with six catches for 95 yards in Week 9 against the Jets.
Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: 10 percent of your budget should get it done.
Quarterbacks
Ryan Fitzpatrick (29): He has five TD passes in his past two games and is always a threat to throw for 300 yards or four scores. He is a useful Fantasy streamer for bye purposes. Fantasy Football FAAB Recommendation: Two percent
Derek Carr (78): He will be available on some other sites and will be a very useful streamer. Carr is working with maybe his best supporting cast ever. He has seven TD passes in his past three games and has thrown for 285 or more yards in each of those outings.
