NBA DFS Plays for Wednesday, 2/5: Browns and Towns

Monday’s article was extremely close to being a gem if it weren’t for a couple of DNPs. Outside of that, we got spectacular performances from guys like Elfrid Payton, Jayson Tatum, Draymond Green and Kristaps Porzingis. That left me having a big day in terms of profits and I hope it was the same for you guys! With that in mind, let’s get into our 2/5 NBA DFS plays of the day!

2/5 NBA DFS Point Guards

Spencer Dinwiddie, BRK vs. GS

DK ($8,000) FD ($7,000)

We’re going right back to the well with this one even though he was one of our only disappointments on Monday. The simple fact is, Dinwiddie is the go-to guy in the absence of Kyrie Irving. In the first 26 starts for Irving this season, Dinwiddie scored at least 27 DraftKings points in all of them while averaging 40.6 fantasy points per game. That’s no surprise when you see that he leads the club in usage, minutes and shots taken in that span, making up plenty of that 31 percent usage that Irving leaves behind. We also love the matchup against a Warriors club who sits 24th in defensive efficiency.

Chris Paul, OKC vs. CLE

DK ($7,500) FD ($7,400)

Paul has sat in this $7,000-range all season long and it’s forced him into my article on numerous occasions. We’re talking about a dude who is averaging 36.8 DraftKings points per game for the year and has been even better since the opening month. The main reason we like him today is the matchup though, with Cleveland sitting 29th in defensive efficiency while surrendering the most fantasy points in the league to opposing point guards.

2/5 NBA DFS Shooting Guards

D’Angelo Russell, GS at BRK

DK ($8,400) FD ($7,700)

Russell was the only other guy who let us down on Tuesday and yet again, we’re going back to the well. Russell sat out that game with a random quad issue but it’s already been stated that he’ll return for this game. One major reason he wants to return is because it’s a revenge game against his former team. That should make him motivated but we can’t overlook the fact that the Nets own a 29th OPRK against opposing SGs too. That’s scary with Russell scoring at least 35 fantasy points in eight-straight games while averaging 42.3 DraftKings points per game in that span.

Bruce Brown, DET vs. PHX

DK ($4,900) FD ($5,000)

There are so many injuries to the playmakers in Detroit and it’s forced Brown into a huge role. In fact, this club is without Luke Kennard, Blake Griffin and Derrick Rose. The injury to Rose is the biggest benefit for Brown, playing at least 38 minutes in the last two games he’s missed. That’s led to him averaging 37 fantasy points per game in that span. That means we should be looking at a minimum of 30 minutes of play which is awesome for a guy who’s averaging 31.4 DK points per game in the 16 fixtures that he’s played at least 31 minutes this season.

2/5 NBA DFS Small Forwards

Jaylen Brown, BOS vs. ORL

DK ($7,300) FD ($6,600)

Brown has sneakily been a breakout player this season and we have to love him anytime Kemba Walker is sitting out. With him and Marcus Smart off the floor this season, Brown has a 29.4 percent usage rate. That means he’s one of the primary ball-handlers which is fantastic from a guy who’s averaging 34.5 DK points per game across his last eight outings. If both Smart and Kemba remain out here, don’t forget about Gordon Hayward too.

Caris LeVert, BRK vs. GS

DK ($5,700) FD ($4,500)

LeVert has all the talent in the world and getting to run the offense in the absence of Irving has allowed him to flourish. In the last game that Kyrie missed, LeVert dropped 48 fantasy points across 31 minutes of play. That shows the stat-stuffing ability he has, leading the team with a 36.8 percent usage rate in that game. If he gets that sort of role against a 24th-ranked Warriors defense, LeVert should be a $7,000 player. That means we’re looking at a $2,000 discount and he’s essentially a lock on FanDuel at just $4,500.

2/5 NBA DFS Power Forwards

Kristaps Porzingis, DAL vs. MEM

DK ($8,300) FD ($8,700)

Porzingis was one of the stars of our Monday article and we have to consider him anytime that Doncic is out. The reason for that is because it takes Luka’s 36.1 percent usage rate out of the lineup, allowing KP to lead the team with a 30 percent rate. That’s led to his best fantasy production of the season, scoring at least 45 DK points in all seven games that Doncic has missed. That’s truly absurd and the best part about all of this might be the matchup. In fact, Memphis sits 27th in total defense and fifth in pace.

Jayson Tatum, BOS vs. ORL

DK ($7,900) FD ($7,900)

If Walker and Smart remain out here, Tatum is one of the best plays of the day. The reason for that is because he leads the team with a 34.4 percent usage rate with those two off the floor. In the seven games without Kemba this season, Tatum is averaging over 37 DraftKings points per game. That’s actually slightly below his 39-point average for the season and he has at least 40 DraftKings points in five of his last six games heading into this matchup.

2/5 NBA DFS Centers

Karl-Anthony Towns, MIN vs. ATL

DK ($10,600) FD ($10,100)

Towns had two down games when returning from injury a few weeks ago but has been an absolute beast aside from that. In fact, KAT averaged 51 DK points per game over his first 23 fixtures before getting injured and is averaging 50.8 fantasy points per game over his last six outings. The two games coming off of injury were clearly the only outlier in a spectacular season and he should be able to abuse a 29th ranked Hawks defense here. Not only does Atlanta surrender the most fantasy points in the league to opposing centers, Towns also dropped 62 fantasy points in their one meeting earlier this season.

Steven Adams, OKC vs. CLE

DK ($5,600) FD ($5,100)

Adams has been sucking recently since suffering an ankle injury but he’s simply too good to be priced this cheaply. We’re talking about a guy who’s averaging 29.7 DK points per game for the season which alone tells us that he should be $1,000 more. He’s been showing signs of life recently too, scoring at least 21 fantasy points in three-straight coming into this matchup. It’s the opposition that could get him out of this slump, with Cleveland surrendering the second-most fantasy points to opposing centers while sitting 29th in defensive efficiency.
