Fantasy Takes to Get You Ready for NFL Week 3 – AFC Edition

We had a great Thursday game to start Week 2, which NEVER happens. We should’ve known that the Sunday games would’ve been as great as they were! Let’s take a look at the Week 3 matchups, and see if we’ve got another exciting slate on tap.

Say what?! Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season? Unthinkable! Check out all the features Fantrax has to offer, and we think you’ll be singing a different tune for next season.

AFC Week 3 Fantasy Takes

Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen went 17/33, 179, 2TDs, 1Int….the passing attack isn’t quite yet in mid-season form. They go up against a Washington defensive line that won’t allow Devin Singletary to do what he did this past week. The Bills are likely to be one-dimensional. I’m avoiding this matchup.

Miami Dolphins

Tua got hurt, and the Dolphins got embarrassed. For all the talk about whether the Dolphins believe in Tua, I’ll bet they really don’t believe in Jacoby Brisset now. For what it’s worth, if Tua does miss Week 3, make sure to start Mike Gesicki.

New England Patriots

Pats defense did the heavy lifting in Week 2, for Week 3, they’ll face Jameis Winston and the Saints. Which Jameis they’ll see is entirely out of my realm of prediction. Regardless, James White and Damien Harris look like the backbone of this offense. Matchup be damned.

New York Jets

All rookie QBs look like that against the Pats defense. Don’t fret. The Jets take on the Broncos in Week 3. Expect plenty of targets for Corey Davis and co. The Broncos are looking like a playoff team with Teddy Bridgewater.

Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens finally took down the Chiefs in primetime. And they did it with the Chiefs playing well, too. That’ll do wonders for the Ravens confidence. Lamar has been a reluctant runner this year, despite still putting up monster numbers (107 yards and 2TDs in Week 2). One thing that’s looked extra promising is his connection with Hollywood Brown and Sammy Watkins. Both are viable WR3s for your fantasy lineups in Week 3 vs. the Lions.

Cincinatti Bengals

Joe Burrow had a regrettable game but came on late vs. the Bears in Week 2. Too late though, as the Bengals lost. In Week 3, they’ll take on a Steelers defensive line that will give the Bengals O-line plenty of problems. I’m taking the under on Joe Burrow passing yards. For as good as Jamar Chase looks, I’ll bet they wish they had drafted an offensive lineup to keep Joe on his feet.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns reluctantly beat the Texans in Week 2. If Tyrod didn’t get hurt, I don’t know that that would’ve happened. Week 3 brings on a Bears team that looks to be hitting on all cylinders. An injury to Andy Dalton allowed Fields to play most of the game. He looked like a pro, and made a few rookie mistakes. I’d take the over in that game. Expect a lot of fantasy points to come from the receivers and QBs.

Pittsburgh Steelers

Yikes. The Raiders look good, but that doesn’t mean the Steelers have to look bad. Mike Tomlin has never had a losing season, so I won’t overreact. Najee Harris looked like something clicked for him in Week 2, so expect more of the same against the Bengals in Week 3. Fade Ben Roethlisberger. Please.

Houston Texans

Tyrod Taylor is going to miss Thursday’s game after tweaking his lower body on a TD run. Tyrod looks great. Davis Mills does not. Pick up and stream the Panthers Defense in Week 3.

Indianapolis Colts

The Colts looked like they were on their way to a win, until Carson Wentz got injured. If he plays in Week 3, I can’t imagine he’ll be even close to 100% in Week 3 against the Titans. I’d pick up the Titans Defense for Week 3, as well.

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jags look like the worst team in the league and Trevor Lawrence looks fine. The problem with looking fine is that people panic when you’re supposed to look like a savior. In Week 3, my hot take is that Urban Meyer will fake his death and posthumously take the USC job. His ghost will coach that team to a national championship within the next three years.

Tennessee Titans

Derrick Henry is BACK. 182 yards and 3TDs. As he goes, the Titans go. He should have no problems in Week 3 against, the Colts. That will be a boost for a Titans passing attack that is still looking to get going.

Denver Broncos

They’ve beaten the Jags and the Giants. I don’t know if the Broncos are for real, but we won’t know for sure in Week 3 against the Jets either. Go ahead and start Melvin Gordon in all formats.

Kansas City Chiefs

They lost to the Ravens and still look like the best team in the league. There are no revelations to be had. The Chiefs are as good as you think, in real life or fantasy. Maybe keep your eye on Demarcus Robinson and/or Pringle on the waiver wire. They could overtake Mecole Hardman for WR3 in Week 3.

Oakland Raiders

Derek Carr. It’s time to talk about him as potentially being an elite QB. He’s made a jump this year. He’s been throwing pinpoint dimes. Expect more of the same against a Dolphins defense in Week 3 that won’t have any time of possession help from its offense.

Los Angeles Chargers

They’ll probably lose against the Chiefs in Week 3, but it should be a shootout. All the usual suspects should be on your radar for both teams (Hill, Mahomes, Kelce, Ekeler, Herbert, Allen, Williams….).
