Folks, we’ve made it to Week 7! All of a sudden, bye weeks are taking place, forcing fantasy managers to make more tough start/sit decisions with their bench players/waiver claims than normal. The best resource to make those decisions? Well, I am glad you asked; My Week 7 Rankings! Every week, I’ll be providing you with my personal PPR rankings for every position, excluding defense and kicker, who will be ranked later in the week. Who’s positioned to do some damage this week? Who might not be the ideal player to start this week? We’ll answer all of that here with my Week 7 PPR rankings!

Week 7 Positional Notes

Check out our other Week 7 Rankings: QB | RB | WR | TE | Kicker | D/ST | PPR | Flex

Quarterback

  • Hey look, it’s time for the Matthew Stafford reunion game vs the Lions. Is it a revenge game? I don’t see how it can be, but Stafford should have a field day against a very poor Detroit defense.
  • Tua Tagovailoa is going to get a lot of pass attempts, which means a lot of opportunities to accumulate yardage vs the Falcons defense. On the other side, Matt Ryan also is a great streaming option against a struggling Dolphins defense. This matchup has more fantasy intrigue than you’d expect.
  • With six carries and 27 pass attempts, Justin Fields was a viable fantasy quarterback this past week. With another trailing game script, this time against the Bucs, who teams don’t run on, he’s positioned to have his best fantasy performance of his young career thus far.
  • It will be interesting if the Saints continue to try to pick up the pace of their offense and air it out more with Jameis Winston, as they started to do before their bye in Week 5.

Running Back

  • Against the Lions and with a perfect role, Darrel Henderson is in a clear smash spot this week. That is why he’s the RB2 in my Week 7 PPR rankings.
  • Other running backs with clear lead-back roles? Leonard Fournette, and to a lesser extent, Josh Jacobs and Chuba Hubbard.
  • Speaking of elite roles, Darrel Williams was the clear featured running back for the Chiefs and was on the field for more time than Clyde Edwards-Helaire ever was. A shootout against the Titans means another big fantasy week for him.
  • Should we be worried about Antonio Gibson, who is limited with a shin injury? We could see JD McKissic see a lot of work in the fourth quarter again if Washington indeed falls behind against the Packers, which the 9.5-point spread indicates will happen.
  • With over 70% of the snaps played despite trailing against the Bucs and a pass-heavy game script, Miles Sanders hopefully is someone you feel comfortable trusting as an RB2 this week.
  • Alex Collins is going to thrive in a run-heavy Seahawks offense without Russell Wilson or Chris Carson; he had 20 carries against the Steelers. Yes, the Saints have a strong run defense, but, hey, so does Pittsburgh? Continue to chase that volume.
  • Elijah Mitchell was clearly the lead back in Week 5 for the 49ers, and in Week 7, now won’t have to worry about Trey Lance taking away touchdown opportunities. In other words, expect a big performance from everyone’s favorite post-Week 1 waiver addition.
  • James Conner has excellent touchdown upside against the Texans, and it’s likely that in a game not expected to be close, Arizona limits Chase Edmonds in the second half again.
  • With Damien Williams likely back for the Bears this week, what does that mean for Khalil Herbert? Against the Bucs, I’d avoid trying to sort this situation out.
  • D’Ernest Johnson is likely to be the lead back for the Browns on Thursday Night Football with Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt injured. Expect him to be a popular waiver wire addition in Week 7.

Wide Receivers

  • Despite dealing with the aftermath of food poisoning, AJ Brown thrived on Monday Night Football with 91 receiving yards and 16.3 expected PFF points. Especially with Julio Jones dealing with a hamstring injury, he’s in position to dominate against the Chiefs in what should be a very high-scoring game. With that in mind, he’s a top-ten wide receiver in my Week 7 PPR rankings.
  • It’s not looking pretty for DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett without Russell Wilson. Consider both boom-or-bust WR2s moving forward.
  • Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney each benefitted from the Bears playing from behind and having to pass more, and that’s exactly what’s going to happen against the Bucs.
  • Speaking of the Bucs, it’s truly a three-way receiver committee in terms of who’ll lead the team in targets. Antonio Brown, Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin are all top-20 receivers for me in my Week 7 PPR rankings.
  • It was encouraging to see rookie receiver Rashod Bateman earn a 24% target share in his debut. He’s the #3 option right now for the Ravens, and it will be interesting to see what happens when Sammy Watkins comes back from injury.
  • Hey, Mecole Hardman is playing well! He’s eclipsed 60 receiving yards in back-to-back games, is starting to see the role we’d hope he’d have this year, and also will play in an expected shootout against the Titans. I’d be comfortable starting him as a FLEX this week, which surely won’t go wrong, right?
  • Quez Watkins appears to be the #2 receiver for the Eagles, outperforming Jalen Reagor.
  • With TY Hilton back for the Colts, Michael Pittman Jr. isn’t affected, but Zach Pascal may be the odd man out. It will be interesting to see how Hilton factors into the passing game moving forward.
  • If DeVante Parker is out again with an injury, Jaylen Waddle is in a great spot to flourish against the Falcons this week.

Tight End

  • Without Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert finally has the chance to be the clear top tight end in Philadelphia. Yes please!
  • Speaking of Ertz, his role in Arizona will be interesting to monitor for a team that likes to run a decent amount of four-receiver sets. This could greatly impact Rondale Moore, or Ertz will be less valuable than we might be thinking he’ll be.
  • Mike Gesicki, Tyler Higbee, and Hunter Henry all have great matchups this week against the Falcons, Lions, and Jets, respectively.
  • Cole Kmet finally is seeing his high snap rate (79%) leading to production with a more pass-happy blueprint. He could be a surprising producer against the Bucs this week.
  • Ross Dwelley will be filling in for George Kittle while the latter is on injured reserve. He certainly won’t replicate his production, but perhaps he can be a nice streamer in a deep league.
