Last week, our Fantrax fantasy football contributors were thankful on Thanksgiving weekend to hit bold predictions for Jayden Reed, Dak Prescott, and fall just short for others. Let’s keep the momentum into Week 13! These bold predictions won’t always have a 100% success rate, but should at least help sway decision-making for your dynasty, redraft, or even DFS lineups.
2023 NFL Week 13 Bold Predictions for Fantasy Football
Tyjae Spears, RB, Tennessee Titans
Bold Prediction: 7 carries, 35 yards; 4 receptions, 30 yards, 1 touchdown
16.5 fantasy points
Fantrax Writer: Colin McTamany, @Colin_McT
Colin’s Breakdown: It’s hard to generate a bold prediction for a Week 13 running back with six teams worth of running backs on bye. Running backs that are typically on your bench may be starting in Week 13 out of necessity. So, let me dive a little deeper for those truly in need and roll with rookie Tyjae Spears for Week 13.
The Titans’ Week 13 home bout with the Indianapolis Colts will be each team’s first game of December. We’ve seen Derrick Henry dominate games in the month of December before. However, we haven’t seen another Titans running back mix in with Henry before quite like Tyjae Spears has this season.
Spears’ best fantasy output was in Week 5 against the Colts in Indianapolis. My bold prediction is a near-exact repeat of his stats from that game. Since the Titans’ Week 7 bye, Spears hasn’t played less than 40% of snaps. He’s averaging nearly seven touches per game since then, but the Colts are an excellent matchup for running backs so I expect the Titans to lean on both Henry and Spears in this one. I think he can be a Week 13 hero for those desperate to find a plug-and-play running back with upside.
Keenan Allen, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Bold Prediction: 12 receptions, 112 yards, 1 touchdown
29.2 fantasy points
Fantrax Writer: Michael Reedy, @MikeReedyFF
Michael’s Breakdown: Keenan Allen has a ridiculous total of 46 targets over the past three games. He has turned them into 35 receptions, 397 yards, and three touchdowns. Allen has an incredible 38% target share over these three weeks. For the season, Allen has a 33% target share and 40% of the Chargers’ air yards. Oh, but that’s not all. The Chargers play the New England Patriots in Week 13. The Patriots give up the ninth most fantasy points to opposing teams’ wide receivers. I am all charged up over Keenan Allen this week. He’s an obvious must-start, but my bold prediction suggests making him the focal point of any wagers or Daily Fantasy Sports lineups.
Brevin Jordan, TE, Houston Texans
Bold Prediction: 4 receptions, 45 yards, 1 touchdown
14.5 fantasy points
Fantrax Writer: Colin McTamany, @Colin_McT
Colin’s Breakdown: This bold prediction is one of the bigger reaches as far as obscure players go, but what else do you expect at the tight end position? We all know six teams are on bye in Week 13. Notable tight ends such as T.J. Hockenson, Dalton Kincaid, Cole Kmet, and others are unavailable. In addition to these top-10 options, it’s looking unlikely Dalton Schultz will play. If he does, he’s likely going out there at less than 100% with a hamstring injury.
Schultz exited the Texans’ Week 12 loss with said injury. In his place, we saw Brevin Jordan fill in quite nicely running 19 routes on 26 snaps, mostly in the fourth quarter. Assuming Schultz is out, this bold prediction may come across as modest for Jordan. He and the Texans host the Denver Broncos who allow the most points to opposing tight ends. We’ve seen quarterback C.J. Stroud utilize Schultz heavily this season. I expect no difference if Jordan primarily plays in his place.
The Broncos are one of five teams to allow six or more touchdowns to tight ends this season. There’s a good chance, if not for anything else, that Brevin Jordan finds the end zone in Week 13. That alone makes playing him worth it.
