Every week throughout the NFL season I will bring you an IDP article talking about anything and everything that consists of IDP. I will talk about IDP Breakout players, keep tabs on possible waiver-wire additions and some IDP Sleeper plays during the year. It should be fun. Let’s take a look at some of my favorite Breakout IDP Performances and Waiver-Wire Moves headed into Week 13 of the NFL Season.
Week 13 IDP Waiver Wire and Breakout Performers
Samson Ebukam, DE Indianapolis Colts
Samson Ebukam got off to a good start this season with four sacks in the first five games for the Indianapolis Colts after coming over from the San Franscisco 49ers. He went four straight weeks without a sack before chalking up two sacks last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Ebukam has been a starter the entire season but has been in a rotation with Kwity Paye, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Tyquan Lewis. Ebukam has been playing 60% of the snap share, second on the edge to Paye’s 65%.
Dayo Odeyingbo, DE Indianapolis Colts
If you are hurting for help on the edge in a league that promotes sacks, Dayo Odeyingbo of the Indianapolis Colts is a nice stab in the dark. He is currently a rotational guy on the Colts front earning around 55% of snaps, but he has 4.5 sacks in the last three games. His tackle numbers are bad in that time span with only six.
It’s all or nothing for Odeyingbo, so you have to understand what you are buying. The schedule for the Colts over the next couple weeks is favorable with Tennessee, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Houston.
Shaq Leonard, LB Free Agent
When the Indianapolis Colts made a surprising move last Tuesday and cut linebacker Darius “Shaquille” Leonard, it caught many people by surprise. Leonard has been an absolute star for the Colts since getting drafted in the second round out of South Carolina State in 2018. Injuries have slowed Leonard the past two seasons, and he looked less explosive most of this season.
He had started to lose some of his snaps to E.J. Speed before he was cut. Now he is a free agent and will be visiting multiple teams this week. If he is signed, could be the Dallas Cowboys or Philadelphia Eagles, he is likely to see immediate playing time for a team that is thin at linebacker.
Leonard has 65 tackles in nine games this season, the issue has been the lack of splash plays with no peripheral stats this season. If you have a roster spot available and can stand to wait a week for him to get signed and settled into his new situation it could pay off the rest of the season.
SirVocea Dennis, LB Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Lavonte David suffered a groin injury last week against the Indianapolis Colts. Given David’s age, 33, it might be a minute before he is healthy enough to return to the starting lineup.
SirVocea Dennis filled in nicely for David in Week 12, notching six tackles and a pass defensed after the injury to David. If you are desperate for LB help with all the injuries and bye weeks, he could be a worthy one-to-two-week fill-in.
K’Vonn Wallace, S Tennessee Titans
After getting cut by the Arizona Cardinals, K’Vonn Wallace has worked his way into the Tennessee Titans lineup. It has taken a few games to increase his snap share, but he played over 80% of snaps in Week 12.
With Kevin Byard now with the Philadelphia Eagles, a starting spot at safety has been sitting there. After posting eight tackles against the Carolina Panthers, it seems at this point Wallace has grabbed that role for the foreseeable future.
Percy Butler, S Washington Commanders
If you need safety help, a little-known player that is likely available in your league is Percy Butler from the Washington Commanders. Butler has taken over one of the safety roles, playing 100% of snaps last week. He had four solo tackles and two passes defended.
Butler isn’t likely to go off and win you a week, but he is seeing the field enough to put up solid points. He can be useful in leagues where you must start two to three safeties on a weekly basis, or you are thin at the position because of all the teams on bye on Week 13.
