Every week this season, I am going to provide College Fantasy Football diehards a weekly column to help bolster lineups in redraft leagues, and CFB DFS lineups on Saturday. Let’s kick off the 2022 campaign with an inside look at the Week 0 matchups.
Waiver Wire Gemstones: Week 0
QB Austin Reed, Western Kentucky
@Fantrax Ownership: 41%
After last year’s offensive explosion, CFF diehards must place any, and all, Hilltoppers’ starters on their rosters, and Austin Reed, former Western Florida signal caller, beat out Jarret Doege for the starting position at Western Kentucky…Run to the waiver wire immediately to pick up the potential Top Ten CFF signal caller.
RB Aidan Robbins, UNLV
@Fantrax Ownership: 1%
Over the past three seasons, former Rebels’ running back Charles Williams, the all-time leading rusher at UNLV, twice exceeded 1,200 rushing yards. At 6’3” and 230-pounds, Aidan Robbins has continually earned the praise of the coaching staff in training camp and opens the season at the top of the depth chart.
WR Jerand Bradley, Texas Tech
@Fantrax Ownership: 51%
New offensive coordinator Zach Kittley is implementing his high-octane aerial assault in Lubbock, Texas, and CFF owners have scoured the roster looking for playmakers all offseason. Over the past two weeks, the drumbeat for Jerand Bradley has gotten louder and louder. At 6’5” and 215-pounds, the redshirt freshman should be acquired on CFF rosters.
WR Tyler Hudson, Louisville
@Fantrax Ownership: 43%
All offseason, astute CFF owners sought a pass catcher with QB Malik Cunningham at Louisville. According to reports, It now seems that Tyler Hudson, a transfer from Central Arkansas, will be the guy to roster in CFF leagues. As a member of the Bears, Hudson snatched 62 passes for 1,242 yards and 8 touchdowns.
TE Dalvin Smith, Western Kentucky
@Fantrax Ownership: 10%
The redshirt sophomore is listed as a TE, and it looks like he will play inside in four- and three-receiver formations for the Hilltoppers. Dalvin Smith was named the team’s offensive MVP in the spring, and coach Tyson Helton has praised Smith during training camp.

Scholar’s CFF Serendipitous Starters/Waiver Wire
QB N’Kosi Perry, Florida Atlantic, vs. Charlotte
O/U 57.5, FAU -7.5
Opponent Defense (2021): 260.3 passing yards & 27 TDs
@Fantrax Ownership: 22%
N’Kosi Perry will be one of the quarterbacks that CFF owners look to consider on the waiver wire whenever the matchup identifies a potential fantasy-friendly performance. The first Owls game of the season is an opportunity to glimpse the upside of Perry in 2022.
RB Calvin Tyler, Utah State, vs. UConn
O/U 61, Utah State -27.5
Opponent Defense (2021): 196.2 rushing yards & 27 TDs
@Fantrax Ownership: 35%
The Huskies run defense has bled fantasy points to opposing runners for over four years, and there is no reason to believe that coach Jim Mora fixed the defensive side of the ball so quickly. Calvin Tyler likely garners nearly 25 carries in a projected blowout in Logan, Utah.
WR Mycah Pittman, Florida State, vs. Duquesne
O/U n/a
@Fantrax Ownership: 55%
The Seminoles’ faithful were expecting dramatic improvement when the program hired coach Mike Norvell in December 2019. Unfortunately, the offense has not fired over the past two years with an 8-13 record. With quarterback Jordan Travis leading the unit, the passing game may finally take flight. Reports are optimistic that Mycah Pittman, the Oregon transfer, will be Jordan’s top target in 2022.
