The State of the 2024 Quarterback Position for Fantasy Football
Last season, 102 total games were missed by NFL quarterbacks. That’s up from 88 games missed the year prior. To make matters worse, seven of last season’s Week 1 starters succumbed to season-ending injuries. That includes Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, and we all remember watching Aaron Rodgers go down with an Achilles injury on the fourth play of Monday Night Football in Week 1. As a result, we saw a lot of different quarterbacks under center in 2023; some good and some…not so good.
Heading into the 2024 fantasy football season, the position feels deeper than usual. Mobile quarterbacks still maintain value with a higher floor, there are a few talented rookies in the mix, and certain players will look to build off of a strong 2023 season in 2024. Due to the aforementioned injuries, fantasy football managers turned to players like Jordan Love, Jared Goff and even Baker Mayfield last year, all of whom finished inside the top-10 in total fantasy points.
So, looking beyond the usual studs at the top of quarterback rankings, we see familiar names from starting lineups from last season that we seemingly feel good about. Deciding whether or not to invest in studs with high draft capital or wait until much later to draft a starting quarterback could define your fantasy football season.
