Consensus Running Back Rankings for 2024 Fantasy Football

The State of the 2024 Running Back Position for Fantasy Football

Simply put, running backs are so back. After drafting wide receivers with the majority of first round picks last season, fantasy football managers have stronger options at the running back position they can invest such draft capital in for the 2024 season. There are still plenty of wide receivers that will come off of the board early in 2024 fantasy football drafts, but you can confidently select stud running back early on to get that positional advantage.

Christian McCaffrey reigns supreme as the king of fantasy football. Not only did he score at least one touchdown in all but three games last season, but his 24.5 PPR points per game was the highest average amongst all players at any position last season. While he obviously tops the running back rankings for the 2024 fantasy football season, there are a handful of others worthy of dethroning him.

Additionally, the free agent running back market is shaking up the running back rankings this year, as well. Players like Derrick Henry, Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs will all be playing for different teams this season. These new faces in new places undoubtedly alter their own value and the running back rankings, as well. While the incoming rookie running back class isn’t considered the strongest group, there are still a few names to keep on your radar as potential impact players, especially later in the 2024 fantasy football season.
