Tight ends are the catchers of fantasy football. They score in all the same categories as wide receivers but there’s a definite lack of production and depth at the position. Travis Kelce has dominated the tight end rankings for the last seven years. He’ll turn 34 years old in October. Can he maintain his dominance? Are there any other tight ends ready to step in and take his place? Does his dominance at the position make him worthy of a first-round pick in your upcoming fantasy football drafts?

The 2023 Tight End Pool
We can learn plenty about the 2023 tight end pool by looking back at 2022.
As we’ve come to expect, Kelce dominates the position in virtually every category. He was the leader at the position in Targets (152), Receptions (110), Yards (1,338), and TDs (12). Based on standard scoring he tallied more than 60 fantasy points above any other tight end. In fact on a per-game basis, Travis Kelce scored twice the fantasy points of all tight ends but for T.J. Hockenson and Mark Andrews.
There were other tight ends that figured heavily in their team’s passing attacks. Hockenson, Andrews, and Tyler Higbee all got more than 100 targets, with Evan Engram and Pat Freiermuth just missing that mark with 98.
Hockenson and Andrews were the only other tight ends with even 800+ yards receiving. George Kittle did snag 11 touchdown passes, but no other tight end had more than seven.
As you’ll see below, none of our analysts seem to think Kelce’s dominance is ready to end. It is interesting to see how they rank the rest of the tight end field. First, let’s meet those analysts.
