The Wizards have won four straight. You read that correctly. My team is BACK! I can talk about the other NBA DFS matchups for this slate, but it’s important you all knew that fact!
Playing NBA DFS can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also make your head spin. It’s our job to make sure you’re winning as much as possible! There are countless variables that can lead to a player’s individual performance, but I’ve found it’s best to focus on just a few that can lead to better predictability.
My favorite factors to track for NBA DFS targets: Matchups (Offensive/Defensive Ratings), Opportunity (expected player minutes, game pace), and Recent Form.
This is the AM VERSION of a living article that will be updated throughout the day, as news comes through the wire.
LET’S GET INTO THE SLATE!!!!

NBA DFS Targets and Preview for Feb. 22
Bulls vs. Rockets
The Rockets will be plenty rested after the recent cancellations in the league due to the weather/energy grid situation in Dallas. By the way, we certainly hope everyone there is safe. As for the game, it looks like DMC and PJ Tucker are on the move. Losing DMC is a significant hit to the team, in my view. The Bulls’ 19th ranked net rating, should best the Rockets’ 22nd ranked net rating. Further, I anticipate their 4th ranked defense will head downwards after those transactions are made. I like the Bulls here.
DFS Targets: Bulls targets: Coby White, Zach LaVine, Temple, Williams, and Carter. Houston targets: Wall, Gordon, and Tate.
Grizzlies vs. Mavericks
This should be interesting. The Mavs are 27th in the league in defense, so the Grizzlies’ 19th ranked offense should have plenty of efficiency. As for the Mavs, their 9th-ranked offense will have no problem at all with Memphis’s 18th ranked defense. I’m anticipating a high-scoring affair, which is great for DFS targets. If I had to pick a winner, I’d lean Dallas.
DFS Targets: MEM targets: Morant, Melton, Bane, and Jonas. Dallas targets: Luka Doncic, Josh Richardson, and Kristaps Porzingis.
Heat vs. Thunder
The Heat have won two straight, and most recently against the Lakers. I think it’s time to stop looking at their terrible start to the season and focus on their most recent form. The Thunder, on the other hand, have lost 3 straight, by a double-digit average. I’m rolling with the Heat here. Sometimes, you don’t need to get statistics involved.
DFS Targets: MIA targets: The entire starting five + Tyler Herro. OKC targets: Shai, Dort, Bazley, Horford, and Roby.
Trail Blazers vs. Suns
I smell a blowout. I love Dame as much as the next guy, but he can’t do it all himself. Kanter has been playing well, but he doesn’t play defense. That’s going to be a problem against DeAndre Ayton. I mean, the Blazers just lost to the Wizards. They have nothing for CP3, Book, and the rest of the Suns.
DFS Targets: POR targets: Dame, Trent Jr., and Kanter. PHO targets: CP3, Devin Booker, DeAndre Ayton, Jae Crowder, and Cam Johnson for value.
Hornets vs. Jazz
Very nice feel-good win on the Scary Terry game-winner the other night against a Curry-less Golden State. Now they have to play a real team in the Jazz, who I imagine are only ticked off, considering they just suffered their 2nd loss in the last 22 games. The Jazz are 2nd in defense and 3rd in offense. The Hornets….are not. I like the Jazz in blowout fashion.
DFS Targets: I tend to avoid blowouts as the DFS point distribution can either go all towards a couple guys, or spread relatively evenly among all the roster. That’s a hard game to play. I’ll look elsewhere for my targets.
Wizards vs. Lakers
Let’s gooooooooo!!!!!! My hometown Washington Wizards are winners of four in a row! It’s so nice, I had to tell you twice. Will they ever lose again? Not likely. Especially against a worn-down Lebron. He’s old, he’s tired of carrying that squad without A.D. Washed King, is tagline, I believe? Yes. That’s it. Wizards by 10.
DFS Targets: Wizards targets: In all seriousness, the Lakers have the best defense in the league. If I’m going to target any Wizards players, it’ll only be their big three: Beal, Russ, and Bertans (I know…but he’s heating up. He’s turning into the guy that they gave an $80M deal). Lakers targets: Bron, Kuzma, Harrell…and Caruso, KCP, and Wesley Matthews for value. The Wizards don’t play defense.
