Detroit Tigers Top 20 Fantasy Baseball Prospects for Dynasty Leagues

The magic season for the Detroit Tigers had to come to an end at some point. A young group of players pulled off something down the stretch of the 2024 season is extremely rare. With that said, next season will come with the weight of expectation. With homegrown young players like Tarik Skubal, Riley Greene, Kerry Carpenter, Parker Meadows, and more, the Tigers have tried to build a winner through internal development. Ahead we’ll dig into the Detroit Tigers prospects dynasty baseball managers need to have on their radars.

There are several exciting prospects in the Tigers organization, several of whom have already debuted and should be in contention for roster spots from the start of the next season. That being said, once they graduate, there will still be some top talent, like Max Clark, waiting in the wings.

Detroit Top 20 Fantasy Baseball Prospects

  1. RHP Jackson Jobe, Age: 22

Jobe is arguably the best pitching prospect in the game right now. He got a cup of coffee at the end of the Gritty Tigs playoff run, as well as some playoff experience. He purely dominated at every other level in 2024, posting a combined 2.36 ERA with 96 strikeouts in 91.2 innings. Jobe is a data unicorn who reached elite spin levels with his slider and very good vertical break on his fastball. He’s likely to start 2025 with Detroit, making him a viable candidate in redraft leagues, as well as dynasty.

  1. OF Max Clark, Age: 19

Sure, the Tigers could’ve had Wyatt Langford, but Max Clark is looking just as exciting. The 19-year-old outfielder reached High-A in 2024. He hit a combined nine home runs and stole 29 bases. There is a chance Clark can be a contributor in every offensive fantasy category at his ceiling. He’s still a couple of years away, but he should be rostered in dynasty leagues. His proximity adds risk, but with his potential upside there is plenty of reason to roster him.

  1. 3B Jace Jung, Age: 24

After a slow start in his draft year, Jung ascended for a short stint in Detroit to end 2024. He struck out at a 30 percent clip in his 94 PA sample size, but he should still have a strong chance to start in the majors next season. At his best, Jung doesn’t strike out a lot and can hit the ball hard. His lack of a defensive home might prove to be an issue. With Colt Keith seemingly getting a stranglehold on second base, Jung will have to prove he’s the Tigers’ answer at third base.

  1. C/1B Thayron Liranzo, Age: 21

The key piece to the Jack Flaherty trade announced his presence in the Tigers organization with authority, slashing .315/.470/562 with 5 home runs in his 115 PA at the High-A level. That was worth 195 wRC+. Even taking the sample size into account, this shows a hitter with some pop who has the ability to draw walks. His consistently good walk rates give him a boost in OBP leagues. If he sticks at catcher, he could provide power and walks from a position where it can be tough to find production at times.

  1. SS Bryce Rainer, Age: 19

Rainer is the kind of player who could move up this list, and others, very quickly. He was drafted by the Tigers in 2024 but didn’t debut as a professional. As a prep bat, he’s still several years away which is the main reason he isn’t higher within the top 5. He’s a power bat who showed solid contact skills on the prep circuit. He was also reportedly up in the mid-90s on the mound. A similar discourse to Colt Keith, though Keith was a 2020 5th-rounder. Rainer should be a popular pick early in FYPD and if he comes out of the gates hitting as a pro will be a candidate to move up quickly.

  1. RHP Jaden Hamm, Age: 22

One of the big risers during the 2024 season. Hamm ended the year with an 11.09 K/9 and 2.82 BB/9 across 99 innings in High-A. He works with a good fastball/curveball combination, while also utilizing a changeup and slider. His fastball plays well up in the zone, reportedly sitting around 20 IVB with that pitch. Hamm will likely start the year in Double-A next year and depending on how things go he could announce himself as a potential call-up candidate at some point during the season.

  1. 2B Hao-Yu Lee, Age: 21

The Tigers acquired Lee before the 2023 Trade Deadline for Michael Lorenzen. In his first full season in Detroit’s farm system, he hit 12 home runs and stole 16 bases while slashing .298/.363/.488 in Double-A. This came with a more aggressive approach at the plate. Lee posted the lowest walk and strikeout percentages of his four-year career in 2024. Still, it turned out to be his best year to date, posting a 141 wRC+. He’ll start 2025 in Toledo, one step away from Detroit. Like Jung, he may find trouble with playing time at 2B.

  1. SS Kevin McGonigle, Age: 20

McGonigle is a top-five real-life prospect for the Tigers, but he’s likely a better real-life player than a fantasy player. He can put up good average numbers and he did steal 22 bases across two levels this past season, but those are the only two categories he’s liable to help with. Though he is only 19 years old, it doesn’t seem like too much more power production is likely. At his ceiling, McGonigle is someone who will hit and walk, and maybe provide some steals.

  1. SS Trey Sweeney, Age: 24

He was the second piece of the Jack Flaherty deal, but he was a big piece of the Tigers’ late-season playoff push. After being drafted by the Yankees organization, Sweeney was dealt to Los Angeles in the offseason before landing in Detroit. He got out to a slow start in a small August sample before hitting three home runs and hitting .230. His contributions came more in big moments. Looking forward, he should get an opportunity to make the Tigers from the start of the year, but the big contract of Javier Baez is a playing time deterrent for Sweeney.

  1. C Josue Briceño, Age: 20

As a 19-year-old for the entirety of the 2024 season, Briceño was off to a scorching start, hitting .283 with two home runs through 151 at-bats and good EV numbers before going on the IL in May with a PCL Sprain that kept him out the rest of the season. He was assigned to the Arizona Fall League to make up for lost time where he announced his power in a three-homer game, including hitting one off of top pitching prospect Andrew Painter. Briceño represents another potentially powerful catcher coming up through the Tiger’s system. If I were to pick a player from this system that could make a massive rankings jump over the course of next season, a healthy Briceño is who I would pick.

  1. RHP Troy Melton, Age: 23

Normally a 5.10 ERA is cause for substantial concern. That is what Melton posted in his first full-season attempt at the Double-A level. However his 4.42 FIP, while not great, indicates a better pitcher than the results. Even with his inflated ERA, Melton was able to boast a 10.64 K/9 and 2.68 BB/9. Limiting his 1.70 HR/9 will go a long way in improving his overall numbers. Another season like 2024 will see his stock slide down, but there were enough positives to believe he may have a successful year when he, likely, returns to Erie in 2025.

  1. SS Franyerber Montilla, Age: 19

Another teenager in Single-A for the Tigers, Montilla won’t turn 20 until the beginning of next season. After making noise in the Dominican Summer League in 2023, he continued the trend through 172 at-bats on the Complex, slashing .273/.409/.448 with 6 home runs and 24 stolen bases. His promotion to Single-A yielded a sub-.100 batting average, but in a small 20-game sample. Montilla likely starts in Single-A again, but with a solid performance will see his stock rise. His speed is fantasy-friendly on the basepaths, however it would be nice to see more power as he develops.

  1. 2B Max Anderson, Age: 22

After the Tigers drafted Clark and McGonigle in 2023, they drafted Anderson 45th overall out of Nebraska. The former Cornhusker slashed .270/.321/.392 with 11 home runs before a very late-season promotion to Double-A. He’s a hit-over-power profile who is likely limited to second base defensively, so a lot of pressure will be put on his ability to hit the ball over the fence. He doesn’t strike out a lot, but he also doesn’t walk a lot. The Tigers organization puts an emphasis on hitters who can control the zone under the Scott Harris-led front office, so there could be some changes on the horizon. Either way, Anderson’s fantasy value should be heavily tied to his ability to hit home runs.

  1. RHP Owen Hall, Age: 18

The Tigers’ second-round pick in 2024 has yet to debut professionally. As a high schooler, he was up to 98 MPH with his fastball and paired it with a good slider. He also throws a curveball. Prep pitchers are the riskiest group during FYPD time, making Hall a very divisive prospect. The upside is there and the Tigers have done well developing pitchers lately. There is a lot of variance in the potential outcomes for Hall.

  1. LHP Ethan Schiefelbein, Age: 18

The Tigers took Schiefelbein about 30 picks after selecting Hall. The lefty is a typical pitchability profile. He sits in the low 90s with a two-seam fastball, but his best pitches are his slider and curveball. Schiefelbein can work in a changeup, too. Finding a way to add a few ticks to his fastball and maximize his offspeed is fun to dream about, but impossible to expect. He is set to debut professionally next season.

  1. SS Carson Rucker, Age: 20

The good news? Rucker hit .385 on the Complex in 2024. The bad news? That was in only 13 at-bats before season-ending labrum surgery on his left shoulder. Power is his calling card, but he just hasn’t played enough to show it yet. Between 2023 and 2024, Rucker has only logged 46 at-bats. If he can get healthy, there’s a lot to like here, but that’s a big IF.

  1. RHP Joseph Montalvo, Age: 22

Montalvo is yet another 2024 Trade Deadline acquisition, as the Tigers made an effort to bolster their farm system. Montalvo posted 73 strikeouts with a 2.44 ERA across just 59 innings. After being traded he remained in High-A, posting a 4.74 ERA with 15 strikeouts in 19 innings. His command declined post-trade in a big way, walking 19 batters prior and 7 batters after. With a low-90s fastball, that command needs to return. If he can keep posting big strikeout numbers, he can keep his spot on Tigers’ top prospect lists.

  1. OF Roberto Campos, Age: 21

The Tigers’ big signing from the 2019 IFA class has yet to surpass High-A. However, he won’t turn 22 until the middle of next season. His second attempt at the Midwest League in 2024 went much better. He slashed .272/.342/.425 with 10 home runs and 11 stolen bases. There have been some steady improvements year over year, it seems like he might be close to putting it together. If he can, he potentially provides help with power and speed categories for fantasy. It’s likely he starts next season in Double-A as he inches closer to the majors.

  1. 3B Nestor Miranda, Age: 18

A member of the Tigers 2024 IFA class, Miranda is already 18-years-old. He comes with a lot of hype behind him, as he was on most of the top international prospect lists. His DSL debut didn’t go as planned, hitting .177 with a pair of home runs. The Tigers will likely want him on the Complex next season. Miranda’s reputation is big power. If he can hit remains to be seen, but the power potential is certainly there. Video and more analysis of Miranda can be seen below.

  1. RHP Ty Madden, Age: 24

Madden debuted for the Tigers in 2024, throwing 23 innings with 17 strikeouts and posting a 4.30 ERA. While his proximity and status as a former CBA pick will keep him in a fantasy conversation, it remains to be seen what role he will eventually take. He only started one of the six games he appeared in, and it seems like he’s destined to be in Detroit’s bullpen. Carving out a leverage role would make him more fantasy-relevant, but that is far from a guarantee at this point.
