The 2023-24 NBA season will conclude at the end of the week. This year brought two of the best young dynasty centers in the game, Victor Wembanyama and Chet Holmgren. Wembanyama is not only the top ranked dynasty center, but he is the clear cut number one overall dynasty player in the game. It’s hard to imagine Nikola Jokic being dethroned of the top spot in the dynasty center rankings, but Wembanyama is truly that special of a talent. Let’s take a look at some of the other risers, fallers and potential breakouts as we close out the season.
Risers
Naz Reid
Reid was thrust into a bigger role with the injury to Karl-Anthony Towns. He has stepped up in a big way in his absence and has moved up 13 spots since the last dynasty center rankings. Over the last month, Reid is averaging 18.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.2 steals, 1.4 blocks and 3.1 three-pointers per game. The Timberwolves have their starting frontcourt set with Towns and Gobert, but Reid has proven he needs more minutes as the sixth man.
John Collins
Collins started off the season relatively slow, but has come on strong late in the season. He rises up seven spots in this latest update of the dynasty center rankings. He has recorded eight double-doubles since the All-Star break. Collins averaged 19 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.7 three-pointers in March. He is in his seventh NBA season, but is still just 26 years old and just entering his prime years.
Fallers
Derek Lively
Lively’s dynasty stock was going up like crazy in the first half of the season. However, the Mavericks acquired Daniel Gafford at the trade deadline in February and it has thrown a wrench in Lively’s dynasty value going forward. He saw his production dip after the arrival of Gafford. In January, Lively averaged 10.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks. Fast forward to March, where he averaged just 8.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.o block per game. Lively’s dynasty value is still high at just 20-years-old, but the addition of Gafford has created a conundrum with his fantasy value. They seem to be headed for a time share at the center position going into next season.
Jonas Valanciunas
Valanciunas has dropped eight spots in this update of the dynasty center rankings. He averaged a double-double in December, putting up 15.8 points, 10.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 blocks. In the month of March, he saw those averages drop to 7.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.6 blocks. Valanciunas turns 32-years-old at the conclusion of the season and his dynasty value is certainly trending in the wrong direction.
Potential Dynasty Center Breakouts
Tristan Vukcevic
Vukcevic was the 42nd overall pick in 2023 draft by the Washington Wizards. He spent most of this season playing overseas in Europe. The Wizards recently bought out his contract and he has played in nine games. Over the last four games, Vukcevic has averaged 14.3 points and 6.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.3 blocks. He will look to play a key role with the Wizards next season.
Nikola Jovic
Jovic was drafted in the first round of the 2022 draft by the Miami Heat. He’s only 20-years-old and is just starting to tap into his potential. Jovic has averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.6 three-pointers in his last five games. There is a chance he could earn the starting power forward position next year. If that happens, his dynasty value will skyrocket.
