A great way to improve your Fantasy Basketball team is to identify and acquire players who average 1 three-pointer made, 1 steal, and 1 block per game, also known as the coveted 1-1-1 player.
As of Tuesday, there are only 4 players that average the coveted 1-1-1.
- Myles Turner
- Joel Embiid
- Giannis Antetokounmpo
- Michael Porter Jr.
Two players just missed out on the club: Christian Wood ( 0.9 stls) and PJ Washington (0.9 stls).
What?! You’re not hosting your fantasy basketball league on Fantrax? Inconceivable! Check out all the features of Fantrax Fantasy Basketball Commissioner and we’re pretty sure you’ll come around to our way of thinking.
Providing a list of 6 top-ranked players, sans PJ Washington, is not genius-level basketball advice. So let’s break the 1-1-1 metric down further to make it more equitable and to provide more practical fantasy basketball advice.
Comparing the importance of 3’s, steals, and blocks, you find inequities, specifically, averaging 1 three is 20% of the league’s top three-point shooter (Stephen Curry @ 4.9), 1 steal is about 49% of the league’s top criminal (O.G. Anunoby @ 2.1), and 1 block is 27% of the league’s top shot-blocker (Myles Turner @3.6). So to improve our “1-1-1” metric and expand our pool of useful 1-1-1 players, we use the lowest standard from the three categories, being 20% from our 3-point ratio, and round up to define a new 1-1-1 player:
- 1 Three
- 0.5 Steal
- 0.8 Block
Not quite as sexy but much more useful.
Target Your New 1-1-1 Players:
- Myles Turner
- Joel Embiid
- Jerami Grant
- Kyrie Irving
- Kevin Durant
- Bam Adebayo
- Christian Wood
- Chris Boucher
- Mikal Bridges
- Giannis Antetokounmpo
- Brandon Ingram
- Michael Porter Jr.
- Brook Lopez
- Andrew Wiggins
- PJ Washington
- Naz Reid*(Streamer until K. Towns returns)
- Jonas Valanciunas
- Josh Jackson
- Al Horford
- Tobias Harris
- Kelly Oubre Jr.
- Aaron Gordon* (out Injured)
- Jeremy Lamb
- Gorgui Dieng* (Streamer when Valanciunas is out)
- Miles Bridges
What you discover with this new list of 1-1-1 players are players that range from elite to above average, which gives managers/owners flexibility in shaping their roster as the season progresses. So check this list, continue to monitor our redefined 1-1-1 metric, and consider building your roster around these guys as the season progresses.
