The number of important players hitting the fantasy IR is staggering for Week 2 of the NBA season. The likes of Darius Garland, Damian Lillard, Brandon Ingram, Zion Williamson, and many more are already missing time with injuries.
While this presents problems for many fantasy basketball managers, it provides interesting options for streaming if you’re chasing stats at the end of the week. All of the players mentioned below could help managers pull out a win in a categories league if the ball bounces their way.
Teams with Two Games
ATL, BOS, CHA, CHI, CLE, DAL, DEN, DET, GSW, HOU, IND, LAL, MIL, MIN, NOP, NYK, ORL, PHI, PHX, SAS, UTA, WAS
The weekend slate is packed with 22 teams playing 2 games in 3 nights, meaning it’s not a bad week to be chasing points
Fantasy Basketball Streaming Options
Terrence Ross, G/F – Orlando Magic | 54% rostered
Best Stats: PTS, 3PM, STL
Ross is averaging nearly 14 points a game so far this season in a starting role. The Magic were already thin at guard to start the season with Jalen Suggs and Markelle Fultz out. Now to compound their backcourt issues Cole Anthony is out with an oblique injury and no timetable for his return. Look for Ross to see extended minutes this weekend and produce at a high level.
Dennis Smith Jr., G – Charlotte Hornets | 65% rostered
Best Stats: AST, STL
After teetering on the edge of being out of the league, Dennis Smith Jr. seems to have been reborn again in Charlotte. With LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier sidelined Smith has played huge minutes in the last two outings, at nearly 35 a night. He averaged 8 assists and 2.5 steals in those contests.
Malik Beasley, G/F – Utah Jazz | 51% rostered
Best Stats: 3PM, PTS, STL
The Jazz are off to a surprising 3-1 start, with as many wins as some pundits thought they’d muster by the end of November. Beasley isn’t off to a flying start but has hit 2 or more threes in three of the Jazz first four games. The veteran wing is also slotted to be a bigger part of the rotation this weekend due to the oblique injury Collin Sexton suffered Wednesday against the Rockets.
Bol Bol, F/C – Orlando Magic | 62% rostered
Best Stats: BLK, REB
It seems pretty simple, if the Magic let the lanky 7-footer play 20 minutes he will get 2 blocks. The former Oregon Duck big man has already logged 4 blocks in two separate games in the young season, and the Magic coaching staff seems to like what he’s giving their youthful side on the floor.
Josh Richardson, G/F – San Antonio Spurs | 33% rostered
Best Stats: AST. STL
Richardson is a veteran presence on a team that is very obviously fighting it out in the Victor Webanyama sweepstakes. The Spurs lack of talent is apparent and with Devin Vassel, one of their bright spots out, Richardson stepped into the starting role, tallying 10 assists. The Spurs are likely to be without Vassel this weekend as well, so look for Richardson to be a good source of assists, and a potential “all around” stat line.
Bruce Brown, G/F – Denver Nuggets | 66% rostered
Best Stats: 3PM, PTS
Bruce Brown has been a spark of energy for the Nuggets this year, something many thought they’d lose with the departure of Will Barton. His stats will vary night to night due to his inconsistent minutes, but with Kentavious Caldwell-Pope rolling his ankle Wednesday against the Lakers, Brown is likely to be the biggest beneficiary in the rotation.
Andre Drummond, C – Chicago Bulls | 66% rostered
Best Stats: REB
Somehow, some way, without playing more than 18 minutes in any game, Drummond has recorded 10 plus rebounds in 3 of the Bulls first five games.
