Fantasy Football 2020: Week 4 NFL Inactives

This article breaks down potential Week 4 NFL inactives. It is a rundown of players who are questionable or worse heading into each game this week. Players who are on injured reserve are not included unless they went on the IR following Week 2. Hopefully, as the season goes along, this list gets shorter, as injuries are the ugly side of this game that we all love.

Say what?! Your fantasy football league isn’t using Fantrax this season? Unthinkable! Check out all the features Fantrax has to offer, and we think you’ll be singing a different tune for the coming season.

Week 4 NFL Inactives

Indianapolis Colts at Chicago Bears

OUT – Michael Pittman (WR) IND – Lower Leg

Pittman suffered a lower leg injury in Week 3, and will now miss at least several weeks. He is expected to be held out through the Week 7 bye week but has not been placed on the injured reserve list.

DOUBTFUL – Trey Burton (TE) IND – Calf

Burton is eligible to return from the injured reserve list this week, and he has returned to practice on Wednesday. It is possible he plays, but not likely. This would affect Mo Allie-Cox, who has been excellent over the past two weeks in Burton’s absence.

QUESTIONABLE – Khalil Mack (DE) CHI – Knee

While Mack isn’t directly on your fantasy roster unless you play in an IDP league, he does significantly impact the Chicago Bears team defense/special teams. He has been on the injury report for two weeks now, so he should be playing. With the Colts missing several playmakers on offense, Phillip Rivers will need to plan on getting the ball out of his hand quickly with Mack bearing down on him.

Jacksonville Jaguars at Cincinnati Bengals

QUESTIONABLE – D.J. Chark (WR) JAX – Chest

The Jaguars star receiver missed Week 3 with a chest injury, but he is expected to return in Week 4. He has returned to practice in a limited capacity. The Jaguars showed in Week 3 that they really need Chark on the field, as they got blown out by the Miami Dolphins. If Chark suits up, fire him up as a solid WR2 with massive upside against the Bengals.

INJURED RESERVE – Devine Ozigbo (RB) JAX – Hamstring

Even though he doesn’t have an injury designation at the moment, Ozigbo returned to practice on Wednesday. There haven’t been many updates, so it isn’t known if Ozigbo will be activated from the injured reserve. If he does play, it will be interesting to see if James Robinson remains the workhorse back. There is not much reason to doubt it, but Ozigbo was picking up some offseason hype prior to his injury.

*** The Cincinnati Bengals have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

Cleveland Browns at Dallas Cowboys

QUESTIONABLE – Kareem Hunt (RB) CLE – Groin

Hunt participated in a limited practice on Friday, after sitting out Wednesday and Thursday practices with a groin injury. The injury isn’t believed to be serious, and you should expect Hunt to suit up on Sunday.

*** The Dallas Cowboys have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

New Orleans Saints at Detroit Lions

OUT – Michael Thomas (WR) NO – Ankle

Thomas actually returned to practice in a limited capacity Wednesday through Friday, but he will once again be held out for the third consecutive week with a high ankle sprain. Thomas should be back in Week 5.

OUT – Jared Cook (TE) NO – Groin

After exiting in the 3rd quarter in a loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night, Jared Cook did not practice once this week. Not surprisingly, Cook has been ruled out for Week 4. Rookie Adam Trautman will take over for Cook, as the Saints will be without two of their best pass catchers.

*** The Detroit Lions have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

Seattle Seahawks at Miami Dolphins

QUESTIONABLE – Chris Carson (RB) SEA – Knee

Carson suffered a low-grade sprain to his knee following a tackle in Week 3. Luckily, it looks like he will not miss any time, as he got in a full practice on Friday, and should be good to go against the Miami Dolphins.  Keep an eye on Carson’s usage, as it would not be surprising to see him split time with Carlos Hyde and Travis Homer.

QUESTIONABLE – Carlos Hyde (RB) SEA – Shoulder

Hyde was a limited participant at practice throughout the week. It is concerning that it is reportedly the same shoulder he had offseason surgery on, but there are no indications it is anything serious. He should not be in danger of missing any game time.

*** The Miami Dolphins have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

Los Angeles Chargers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

OUT – Mike Williams (WR) LAC – Hamstring

OUT – Tyrod Taylor (QB) LAC – Chest

Both Mike Williams and Tyrod Taylor will be out for their Week 4 game against Tampa Bay. Williams injured his hamstring last week. Williams didn’t practice all week and played sparingly in the second half of his Week 3 game. He will certainly be questionable next week.

OUT – Chris Godwin (WR) TB – Hamstring

OUT – Leonard Fournette (RB) TB – Ankle

Tampa will also be down two key players, as Chris Godwin and Leonard Fournette will both miss Week 4. Godwin came up with a dreaded hamstring injury and didn’t practice all week. Fournette also didn’t practice all week, as he sputtered through Week 3 to an ugly two yards per carry.

QUESTIONABLE – Scotty Miller (WR) TB –  Hip

Miller was limited in Friday’s practice, but the good news is he practiced. Without Chris Godwin, the Bucs will need Scotty Miller to lineup opposite of Mike Evans. If Miller plays, he is a sneaky good option, although Justin Watson benefited the most the last time Godwin was out.

Baltimore Ravens at Washington Football Team

*** The Baltimore Ravens have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

QUESTIONABLE – Terry McLaurin (WR) WAS – Thigh

Terry McLaurin did not practice Thursday or Friday, as he popped up on the injury report with a thigh injury Thursday. The fact he didn’t practice either day is worrisome, although the injury does just seem to be a bruise. Monitor the news closely on Scary Terry, as he has looked excellent so far this season.

OUT – Steven Sims (WR) WAS – Toe

Steven Sims will miss Sunday’s action against the Baltimore Ravens. A popular breakout pick in the late rounds before the season, Sims hasn’t done much to back that up. He should be back in Week 5.

Arizona Cardinals at Carolina Panthers

QUESTIONABLE – DeAndre Hopkins (WR) ARI – Ankle

Hopkins did not practice on Friday, which is never a good thing. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury called him a “game-time call”, and he is just that. This will be the main injury on Week 4’s slate to monitor, as Hopkins has looked like the top receiver in the league through three weeks.

QUESTIONABLE – Christian Kirk (WR) ARI – Groin

Also a game-time decision on Sunday, Christian Kirk’s status could depend significantly on Hopkins status. I feel confident that one of the two will play. Kirk missed Week 3 with the same injury, but he did get a limited practice in on Friday.

*** The Carolina Panthers have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

Minnesota Vikings at Houston Texans

*** The Minnesota Vikings have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

*** The Houston Texans have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

New York Giants at Los Angeles Rams

*** The New York Giants have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

OUT – Cam Akers (RB) LAR – Ribs

Rookie Cam Akers will be out for the second consecutive week with a rib injury. Darrell Henderson will once again likely resume getting a majority of the carries. Akers needs to get back soon, or he remains at risk of ceding carries to Henderson the rest of the season.

New England Patriots at Kansas City Chiefs

QUESTIONABLE – Julian Edelman (WR) NE – Knee

Another week, another questionable tag for Edelman. Expect him to suit up, and he could have a massive usage going against the best offense in football.

QUESTIONABLE – Sony Michel (RB) NE – Quadriceps

Sony Michel is questionable with a quadriceps injury, but he was limited in practice all week. A lot of what Michel does this week could depend on the next guy on this list…

INJURED RESERVE – Damien Harris (RB) NE – Finger

Although he remains on the injured reserve, Harris practiced all week and could be activated on Saturday. If he is, it will be really interesting to see how he is used, as he looked like the best back in Patriots camp. If you don’t have Harris stashed away, make sure to check your waivers and add him.

*** The Kansas City Chiefs have no relevant fantasy players on the injury report***

Buffalo Bills at Las Vegas Raiders

QUESTIONABLE – Zack Moss (RB) BUF – Toe

Zack Moss got in a limited practice on Friday and looks like he could be primed to return against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 4. Even if he is ready to go, Devin Singletary has been excellent this season when given the opportunity, making Moss an RB3 or RB4 option.

OUT – Bryan Edwards (WR) LV – Ankle

The Raiders can’t catch a break at wide receiver (pun intended). Rookie receiver Bryan Edwards will miss Week 4 (and likely beyond) with an ankle injury suffered in their Week 3 matchup.

DOUBTFUL – Henry Ruggs III (WR) LV – Hamstring

Ruggs is highly unlikely to play for the second consecutive week. The Raiders first-round pick flashed in the first half of his first career game, but he got nicked up with the injury and hasn’t looked the same since. The Raiders are much better off erring on the side of caution with their explosive receiver.

Philadelphia Eagles at San Francisco 49ers

OUT- DeSean Jackson (WR) PHI – Hamstring

OUT – Alshon Jeffery (WR) PHI – Foot

The two Eagles veterans are out against the 49ers in Week 4. Jackson suffered his injury in the first half of their Week 3 game and didn’t practice at all prior to being ruled out. Jeffery will miss Week 4, but then should be ready to return in Week 5. Jeffery has failed to play following a severe injury suffered in the 2019 season. Carson Wentz and the Eagles gravely need his presence in a sputtering offense.

INJURED RESERVE – Jalen Reagor (WR) PHI – Thumb

Rookie receiver Jalen Reagor can’t seem to stay healthy early on in his career, and he will miss the next few weeks following surgery on his thumb.

INJURED RESERVE – Deebo Samuel (WR) SF – Foot

Deebo Samuel is in line to play on Sunday, although he was not been activated to the club’s active roster. If Samuel plays, that is a huge morale boost to the 49ers offense. Be hesitant to throw him in your starting lineups, however, as he is likely to be eased back in.

OUT – Raheem Mostert (RB) SF – Knee (MCL)

Star running back Raheem Mostert will miss his second consecutive game with a knee strain. The 49ers were hopeful he could play, but in reality, this was always a multi-week injury. Fire up your Jeff Wilson Jr. in Week 4.

Atlanta Falcons at Green Bay Packers

QUESTIONABLE – Julio Jones (WR) ATL – Hamstring

QUESTIONABLE – Calvin Ridley (WR) ATL – Ankle

QUESTIONABLE – Russell Gage (WR) ATL – Concussion

The three starting receivers for the Atlanta Falcons are all questionable heading into Monday Night Football, sure to give their managers some worry unless we get clarity on Saturday. Jones missed Week 3, but he should be ready to go after logging in multiple limited practices. Ridley popped up on the injury report late in the week, but he practiced in limited capacity as well on Friday. Gage returned to full practice on Friday, a sign that he will play. Monitor the news closely over the weekend for these players who are sure to receive a massive target share.

QUESTIONABLE – Younghoe Koo (K) ATL – Groin

This actually has serious fantasy implications, as the Falcons often struggle scoring touchdowns when they get down into the red zone. If Koo can’t go, watch for who the Falcons pick up, as they will almost assuredly have plenty of opportunity on Monday.

QUESTIONABLE – Davante Adams (WR) GB – Hamstring

Adams logged a limited practice on Friday and is looking to be a game-time call for Monday. The Packers may need him now that Allen Lazard has been ruled out. However, they are playing the Atlanta Falcons, and they are 3-0. Don’t be surprised if Adams doesn’t suit up, but monitor the news closely.

OUT – Allen Lazard (WR) GB – Core

Seemingly out of nowhere Allen Lazard was ruled out for multiple weeks, as he’s set to have core surgery. Lazard is coming off the best game of his career on Sunday Night Football, catching six passes for 146 yards and a touchdown.
