Football is back this week and that means, you need to know who to start at wide receiver. Good thing you came here, as I have you covered with my Week 1 wide receiver rankings.
It is one thing to draft the best receivers for your team, but the hardest part is knowing which ones to start each week. This is where I come in. The beauty of the wide receiver position is how deep the pool is. But, you can’t start them all.
This Week 1 wide receiver rankings list will have your team starting the year 1-0.
Just a quick refresher about my rankings list. The list is based on half-PPR scoring and will have my top-50 wide receivers for the week.
Now let’s get into some key player notes for Week 1.
Week 1 Wide Receiver Notes:
Michael Pittman Jr., Indianapolis Colts
Michael Pittman Jr. breaks the top five for Week 1. He has a cakewalk of a matchup this week against the Houston Texans. Last season the Texans gave up the sixth most fantasy points per game to wide receivers at 24.4 points.
Pittman is in line to have a huge year, with a new and improved quarterback in Matt Ryan. Pittman is also the receiver on the field, with Parris Campbell as the number two.
The Texans’ secondary is atrocious and Pittman is set to have a field day for Week 1. Also, Pittman will finish as a top 10 wide receiver this year. Don’t think his top-five ranking is a fluke.
Courtland Sutton, Denver Broncos
Next, I have Courtland Sutton as my WR12 this week. The Broncos will play the Seahawks on Monday night. Russell Wilson is in line to have a huge game against his old team. And Sutton will be a huge part of the blowout of a win.
During the offseason and preseason, Sutton and Wilson have a seasoned connection. Sutton looks to be his go-to receiver.
Sutton has had a rough road and looked good in games last season. But, this will be the first year he has a top-tier quarterback, and I expect Sutton to explode as a WR1 on rosters.
This week’s matchup will be in his favor. The Seahawks’ cornerbacks are sub-par. They do have Jamal Adams and Quandre Diggs as the safeties. But, I don’t expect much pressure from them. Wilson will have a motive to run up the score and Sutton is set for a two-score game.
Mike Williams, Los Angeles Chargers
Last, I have Mike Williams at WR14 this week. That also puts him two spots ahead of Keenan Allen. This is the year that Williams takes over as the WR1 on the Chargers. Also, for Week 1, they play the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders were great in fantasy points allowed to receivers last season, but remember this is a divisional game. Last season, the Raiders held Williams to 1.6 fantasy points in one game, but in the second game, he had 22.4 points.
The pressure will be on Allen, who will be solid but he lacks a deep threat that Williams has. I expect this to be a high-scoring game and Williams will have a few deep ball catches in this game.
Those are my notes for this week, be sure to check out the whole list below, and good luck on your Week 1 matchup.
