Congratulations, you made it to the semi-finals or you’re in the second week of your quarter-final matchup, depending on your league settings. Either way last week definitely made an impact on my Week 16 RB rankings.
Jonathan Taylor and Caleb Huntly are both out for the season. Which makes the waiver wire interesting for players like Zack Moss and Tyler Allgeier. The running back pool is already slim, so this week’s rankings will be crucial for your postseason run.
Lucky for you, Allgeier and Moss are both widely available in all leagues. Even if you weren’t an owner of Taylor, it would be smart to grab Moss, before your opponent does. So on that note, let’s talk about some key players for Week 16.
Running Back Notes:
- Let’s start with Allgeier. I have him ranked as my RB33 this week. Just two rankings back from Cordarrelle Patterson. I have Patterson, just a tiny bit higher for the red zone carries and pass-catching. However, in the last couple of weeks, Allgeier has had just about the same amount of red zone carries as Patterson. So it is a coin flip at this point. But, I see Allgeier better on the ground. With Huntly out, Allgeier should see more carries than Patterson.
- Next, I want to touch on AJ Dillon for his Week 16 matchup against the Dolphins. Dillon has caught fire in back-to-back games. The backfield just about split touches in the red zone, but it was Dillon who got three attempts inside the 10-yard line that produced two touchdowns. Dillon is on a hot streak and has the 10th-worst fantasy defense against the run this year. Dillon is an easy flex start this week.
- I have Isiah Pacheco as my RB26, but I’m leaning toward benching him this week. The upside is Pacheco is leading the backfield in attempts, but Jerick McKinnon is getting all the targets. Pacheco has a league-winning upside, but you never know who the Chiefs are going to gameplan with. I know they have the Seahawks this week, who are terrible against the run. But, I see McKinnon taking over this week again.
- Lastly, Najee Harris jumps up to my RB13 this week. Harris is starting to catch fire, and I love his postseason schedule. Last week he had the Panthers, where he went for 86 yards and a touchdown on 24 attempts. This week he has the Raiders, who just gave up 172 yards and a touchdown to Rhamondre Stevenson. Jaylen Warren did steal a touchdown from Harris, but Warren only had 11 attempts. I’m all in on Harris this week. However, in deeper leagues, Warren isn’t a bad start either. The Raiders are that bad against the run.
