Once again, we are in the midst of an exciting NFL season. Now begins the process of setting the best lineup possible on a weekly basis. Each week, we have you covered as we go through options at both the quarterback and tight end positions. Let us dig into some Week 10 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers along with some Week 10 Tight End Sleepers and Streamers.
Week 10 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers
Quarterback Sleepers
Joshua Dobbs, Minnesota Vikings
Who cares if you know your teammates? Knowing the playbook is certainly optional. Having a handle on the snap cadence really isn’t that important either.
It is for obvious reasons that Joshua Dobbs wasn’t going to be the starting quarterback last week for the Minnesota Vikings. A concussion to Jaren Hall ultimately changed things and Dobbs was pressed into duty. With Alexander Mattison in the backfield and Jordan Addison, TJ Hockenson, and Brandon Powell in the passing game, Dobbs certainly has more weapons than he did in Arizona.
It is a tough matchup against the New Orleans defense this week for Dobbs in his first week as a starter. Based on his skill set though, Dobbs should still be able to put together a solid game. Perhaps it was by default but Dobbs had seven rushes which translated into 66 yards and a touchdown. Dobbs also made good use of his weapons as he completed 20 of 30 passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns.
Will Levis, Tennessee Titans
If the Titans are going to commit to Will Levis, the rookie is also worth a look as a sleepers and streamers option. For the most part, it is always going to be tough for rookie quarterbacks, but having Derrick Henry in the backfield helps here. Additionally, Levis gets the benefit of Deandre Hopkins at his disposal in the passing game.
Levis did have the benefit of watching from the sidelines in the first half of the season before stepping onto the field. With that being said, it was a tale of two games for the rookie after throwing for 238 yards and four touchdowns in his debut. The follow-up wasn’t terrible as Levis had 262 yards and just one interception, but there was a clear drop-off. Levis also had seven rushes last week, but efficiency was not his friend as he gained just 11 yards.
After playing on Thursday, Levis has had a few extra days to make adjustments. While I’m not expecting him to come out and be a matchup winner, there is upside here.
Quarterback Streamers
Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Nothing explicitly against Baker Mayfield, but it is another tough week. That is highlighted at the quarterback position as we are dealing with both injuries and bye weeks. That has led to some signal callers taking their places under center that likely don’t belong in starting roles. Mayfield though, is not one of those players.
The veteran continues to have a solid season with Tampa Bay. Last week, Mayfield certainly wasn’t the reason why the Buccaneers came up short against the Houston Texans. That trend should continue this week in what is a solid matchup against the Titans. From a fantasy perspective, won’t be the cause of a lost matchup which makes him a valuable sleeper and streamer option.
In each of the last two weeks, Mayfield has two touchdown passes each while not throwing an interception. With Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, Mayfield has two strong weapons in the passing game. An expectation of 250 passing yards and two touchdowns seems reasonable.
Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints
If it feels like Derek Carr has taken up permanent residence in our sleepers and streamers, you aren’t wrong. This week, Carr has a solid matchup against a Minnesota defense that has shown a propensity to blitz. The problem from a fantasy perspective then is that it likely will be another conservative week for Carr.
Despite being one of the league leaders when it comes to air yards per attempt, the Saints and Carr shifted gears last week. If we are going to establish that as a precedent for this week, Carr did pick up two touchdowns once again. The drop-off was really noticed in passing yards. Carr failed to continue his three-game streak of breaking 300 passing yards as he finished with just 211. Even if we get a similar performance, the veteran won’t hurt you this week. And depending on your situation, that relatively stable floor might be all you need.
Week 10 Tight End Sleepers and Streamers
Tight End Sleepers
Luke Musgrave, Green Bay Packers
It isn’t the easiest matchup for Luke Musgrave this week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it isn’t one I’m staying away from either. Based on talent, Musgrave has that covered over a lot of the other options at tight end. The same can also be said for Musgrave’s upside.
The rookie’s ankle appears to be in good working order, so that certainly plays a big part. Additionally, Musgrave found the end zone for the first time in his career last week. Musgrave caught three of his four targets for 51 yards and that touchdown. This week, that should be the base as he finishes off the second half of the season on a high note.
Cade Otton, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The bye week is making us dig a little deeper this week, but Cade Otton has been coming on strong. While we aren’t chasing his two touchdowns from last week, three overall this year, there is enough in the last three weeks to give us optimism.
Over that stretch, Otton has been targeted 21 times, nine last week, while catching 15 passes for 140 yards. That is a base we can work with.
Tight End Streamers
Trey McBride, Arizona Cardinals
We were on Trey McBride last week as one of our sleepers and streamers. Things didn’t go according to plan against Cleveland, but it was more about Clayton Tune than anything else. Not only does it appear that Kyler Murray will be back this week, but Atlanta is a much easier matchup.
There wasn’t much production to go around in the Cardinals’ passing game last week, but McBride was targeted five times. He turned that into three catches for 22 yards. It was a far cry from his 10-catch emergence against Baltimore the week prior, but we know what he is capable of it. This week, the expectation is that McBride will get closer to that.
Jonnu Smith, Atlanta Falcons
With Drake London out last week, the tight ends really comprised Atlanta’s passing offense. Even if London does return for Week 10, the Falcons are still shorthanded with receiving weapons, so Smith should be in line for another solid game.
While the majority of Smith’s production did come on a 60-yard touchdown catch, he did have four catches for another 40 yards. There were back-to-back weeks early this season when Smith had six receptions each, so this isn’t exactly coming from nowhere. Of course, there has been some duds thrown in there too, but Desmond Ridder likely deserves some blame too.
