Week 15 marks the first round of playoffs and trust me you’ll need to see these RB rankings. But, before I get ahead of myself, congratulations if you made the 2023 fantasy football playoffs. Now based on your leagues you just need to win three or four straight. Sounds easy enough.
Lucky for you Week 15 is filled with great RB matchups. Jahmyr Gibbs against Denver is a sure win and Najee Harris against the Colts is another sure start.
Running Back Notes
- Let’s start with Gibbs against Denver. I have him as my RB11 and I also have David Montgomery as my RB15. As of the last couple of weeks, the Broncos have looked top-tier. But, in terms of fantasy points given up to RBs, they are the worst in the league. They are giving up 26 fantasy points per game. The Lions lost a game they should have won, so expect them to show up this week. Gibbs and Montgomery both split carries last week. Gibbs had 11 carries for 66 yards and a touchdown and Montgomery had 10 carries for 66 yards. They both also had three receptions. So, these two are pretty much identically beside the touchdown. But it was Gibbs who had the only carry inside the red zone last week. But, since Week 10, Gibbs has 14 attempts for four touchdowns inside the red zone and Montgomery has 15 attempts for three touchdowns. It is a toss-up, but I have Gibbs slightly higher.
- Next, let’s talk about Harris. Yes, Jaylen Warren has squeezed his way into this backfield. But, Harris has still had a few good weeks as of late. In his last six games, he has scored more than 14 fantasy points in three of them. This week he has the third-worst fantasy defense against RBs in the Colts. The Colts just gave up 79 yards and a touchdown to Joe Mixon last week. I expect Harris to fall into the end zone this week.
- Bijan Robinson is my RB3 for this week. I almost put him at one, but it is hard to go against Christian McCaffrey. However, Robinson has been getting more opportunities as of late and he is showing why he was the first RB drafted in this year’s draft. He has the Panthers who are giving up the fourth most fantasy points to RBs this year. Tyler Allgeier did split carries this past week as the week before Robinson outcarried him 18 to eight. Yet, it was Robinson who scored a red zone rushing touchdown and racked in five receptions.
- Lastly, I have James Conner as my RB25. I’d be hesitant to start him this week against the 49ers. I mean if you have no depth at RB and he is your number one then you have to start him. But, this is not a good matchup for him. In their last four games the 49ers have only allowed two rushing touchdowns and one of those was a tush push touchdown from Jalen Hurts. I’d sit Conner this week. Jerome Ford would be a much better option this week.
