We are finally at the end of the season and Week 18 marks my final wide receiver rankings of the 2023 fantasy season. So, if you are in the championship game, this is the time to lay it all on the line. Also, if you won last week, let me say congratulations and I hope these rankings helped you out throughout the season.
Now for this week, we have some interesting matchups for teams that need to make it into the playoffs or need to keep a high seed. Teams like the Buccaneers, Saints, Seahawks, and Packers all need to win this week to have a chance to get in the playoffs.
Wide Receiver Notes
- Let’s start with Chris Olave as my WR12. Overall Olave has been consistent this year except for a handful of games. The only thing is those games when he is not on it are terrible. He has five games where he has scored under 10 fantasy points, including a game where he only scored .9 fantasy points. He is coming off a bad week against the Buccaneers only scoring 4.1. But, they could still get into the playoffs even if the Buccaneers win, however, the Saints need to win this week against the Falcons. The last time Olave played the Falcons he put up 114 yards on seven receptions. Now is the time for him to shine and lead his team to a playoff berth.
- A.J. Brown falls to my WR10 this week. Brown started the season hot, but since Week 11 he has scored over 15 fantasy points just once. That is not good for a player of his talents. He has the Giants this week, which is a great matchup, but Brown is falling into the WR2 or flex option for me this week. Brown only has one touchdown since Week 12 as well.
- Chris Godwin can be a league winner this week. I have him as my WR17 against the Panthers. Godwin has been getting all the targets from Baker Mayfield. Since Week 14 Godwin is averaging 9.5 targets a game. Also in his last three games, he has scored 20.5, 10.9, and 15.6 fantasy points. Godwin is a must-start against the Panthers.
- Lastly, I have Brandin Cooks as my WR22 against the Commanders. The Cowboys already clinched a spot in the playoffs, but they cannot clinch the number one seed. So, right now they are playing to keep the number two seed. However, I don’t see the Cowboys risking some of their starters like Ceedee Lamb getting hurt. But, I can see Cooks being on the field all game. Cooks also has back-to-back games with a touchdown. And he is playing against the Commanders who are giving up the second most fantasy points to wide receivers in 35.4 per game.
