Fantasy Football 2023: Week 7 Quarterback and Tight End Sleepers and Streamers

Once again, we are in the midst of an exciting NFL season. Now begins the process of setting the best lineup possible on a weekly basis. Each week, we have you covered as we go through options at both the quarterback and tight end positions. Let us dig into some Week 7 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers along with some Week 7 Tight End Sleepers and Streamers. With six teams on bye this week, things are going to be a little tougher and look a little different.

Week 7 Quarterback Sleepers and Streamers

Quarterback Sleepers

Joshua Dobbs, Arizona Cardinals

While we are picking against the Cardinals with our survivor picks, it doesn’t mean we are against Joshua Dobbs. The Arizona quarterback enters the week as one of our sleepers and streamers in what is a solid matchup.

The Cardinals will be playing from behind, but with a lack of a running game, there is still some concern. Last week, despite trailing all game, Dobbs only finished with 235 passing yards. Another issue that adds to the risk is Dobbs’ issue with ball security with fumbles in back-to-back weeks. From a fantasy perspective, Dobbs’ 47 rushing yards in Week 6 did help to make up for that. After four straight weeks of at least one passing touchdown, Dobbs failed to get in the end zone in Week 6. In a solid matchup against Seattle, Dobbs could very easily bounce back here to be a solid option.

Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

If you want to talk about weapons, Baker Mayfield gets to throw the ball to Chris Godwin and Mike Evans on a weekly basis. That has certainly benefited the veteran signal-caller in what has been a strong first debut with Tampa Bay. The veteran provides a nice floor although he failed to throw for a touchdown last week against Detroit.

The matchup this week comes against the same Atlanta team that allowed Sam Howell to throw for three touchdown passes in Week 6. While Mayfield has potentially been better for Tampa Bay than for fantasy managers, we are working with limited options.

Quarterback Streamers

Derek Carr, New Orleans Saints

Unfortunately going with Derek Carr means you have to pull the trigger on Thursday, but between injuries and bye weeks, it might be the way to go. In facing Jacksonville, Carr gets one of the worst defenses in the league against opposing quarterbacks from a fantasy perspective. That certainly gets us off to a good start.

Perhaps more importantly, Carr is coming off his best game of the season last week. The veteran showed that there are no ill effects from him previous shoulder injury as he threw for 353 yards. It could have been a bigger day as he only connected on one touchdown pass, but the offensive weapons are in place for Carr to have success.

Sam Howell, Washington Commanders

While the New York Giants did manage to do a good job, for the most part, of limiting Josh Allen, they are still a defense to target. One of the main things for Sam Howell so far this season has been the strong presence of receiving weapons. Those who were looking for a breakout season from Jahan Dotson might disagree, but Terry McLaurin and Curtis Samuel have both been strong options.

Howell will have to deal with likely increased blitzes from the Giants, this is a beatable defense. A week after passing for 388 yards, garbage time was an issue, Howell then dropped down to 151 yards. The good news though, is that Howell threw for three touchdowns, and that came without an interception. It was a career high in touchdowns as Howell is one of our sleepers and streamers this week.

Week 7 Tight End Sleepers and Streamers

Tight End Sleepers

Luke Musgrave, Green Bay Packers

When we last saw Luke Musgrave, the rookie was busy heading into Green Bay’s bye. What he didn’t get in quality, Musgrave made up for in quantity as he caught six of seven targets for 34 yards.

Musgrave is a dynamic weapon and Jordan Love needs all of the help he can get in the passing game. The good news is that Musgrave has carved out a legitimate role in the Green Bay offense. What is perhaps even better news is the fact that this week’s opponent, Denver, is allowing the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. If you have a need, Musgrave is a solid sleepers and streamers option for the week and he could end up being a longer-term solution as well.

Michael Mayer, Las Vegas Raiders

Let’s stay with the rookies and take a look at Michael Mayer. Coming out of college there was a lot of buzz surrounding Mayer and the impact he could make in the NFL. While other tight ends went before, and got more attention than Mayer, he should not be overlooked.

Last week, Mayer reminded us of that by catching five of six targets for 75 yards. He gets another strong matchup this week against the Chicago Bears. This is another situation where Mayer could be a solid option for the week and someone to watch for the remainder of the season.

Tight End Streamers

Jonnu Smith, Atlanta Falcons

While we always pay attention to Kyle Pitts in Atlanta, perhaps we are missing something else? While it could be partly due to the criticism, mostly justified, of Desmond Ridder, could the Falcons be providing two fantasy-worthy tight ends?

Based on the production we are currently seeing out of Jonnu Smith, it is becoming easier to answer that in the affirmative. After not playing in Week 1, Smith has yet to be targeted less than five times in a game this season. Additionally, he has not caught less than four balls or gained less than 36 yards in a game. Smith has two games with six catches each and in those games, he gained 67 and 95 yards.

Last week was the first touchdown of the season for Smith, but even without reaching the end zone, he has been a solid option. At this point, Smith has carved out a solid role in the Atlanta offense and he is worthy of our attention.

Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers

Entering the season, Pat Freiermuth was looked at as a lower-end TE1. While this is Week 7 and preseason rankings have outlived their useful life, it is important to still note that as a frame of reference. Part of the issue here is that Kenny Pickett has not progressed as expected, but Freiermuth is still the same player we liked two months ago.

It is concerning that he has just eight catches for 53 yards in four games this season, but he does have two touchdowns. After missing the game prior to Pittsburgh’s bye, Freiermuth is healthy once again and in a good matchup against the Rams. It is possible that the Steelers’ offense finds a groove after their bye, and we already know what Freiermuth can do.
