Fantasy Football 2024: Week 1 RB Rankings

We finally made it. After a long season of contract disputes and trades, we are finally at the start of the football season. Week 1 is always the toughest week to know who to start, but lucky for you I am back with my Week 1 RB rankings.

A lot of moves were made this year from running backs switching teams to coaching changes. The Falcons moved on from Arthur Smith to Raheem Morris, which should be huge for Bijan Robinson’s production this year. Saquon Barkley is going to be with a top offensive line this year and Derrick Henry moved into another run-heavy offense.

On that note let’s get into my notes for my Week 1 RB rankings.

What!? Your fantasy football league wasn’t hosted on Fantrax last season!? Once you see how Fantrax stacks up to the competition, we think you’ll be singing a different tune in the 2024 season.

RB Notes

  • I have Robinson as my RB1 and Breece Hall as my RB2 for Week 1. I know it is surprising that I don’t have Christian McCaffrey as RB1 for this week. A couple of reasons are his calf injury during the offseason and the Jets defense. It could just be precautions not to practice, but McCaffrey does have an injury history and his heavy workload doesn’t help. Also, the Jets have a tough defense and I can see the Niners playing from behind in this game. However, I do expect McCaffrey to score around 18 fantasy points in this game, but I just don’t see him finishing as the top RB this week.
  • Kenneth Walker III is my RB10 this week and I think he will win most teams their matchup this week. Walker has the Broncos this week, who have an atrocious rush defense. They were second worst in the league last year in fantasy points given up per game. I think this year will be the breakout year for Walker if he stays healthy. So while he is healthy he is a must-start this week against Denver.
  • Alvin Kamara is another RB who is going to have a solid performance this week. I have him as my RB14 and though he is aging, Kamara is still one of the best pass-catching backs in the league. Also, Derek Carr is a check-down master, so expect Kamara to grab close to eight receptions this week. On top of that, the Saints have the Panthers this week who gave up the fifth most fantasy points per game to running backs last season.
  • Lastly, I have Rhamondre Stevenson down as my RB25 going against the Bengals this week. I would bench Stevenson this week and would much rather start Jerome Ford, Raheem Mostert, and Zamir White. The Patriots are not what they used to be and I don’t see them scoring hardly any points this week. They might be one of the worst fantasy offenses in the league this year and they should be throwing the ball a lot. Whereas Stevenson can shine in those check-downs, but I don’t see any touchdown upside.
