Fantasy Football 2024: Week 8 RB Rankings

Compared to wide receivers, the RBs last week did not get hit hard with injuries but did hit hard in scoring. 11 RBs scored over 20 fantasy points while only two wide receivers topped over 20. So going into my Week 8 RB rankings, you’ll see a trend in who to start and who to bench. Based on last week it may seem that any RB will go off, but players like Alvin Kamara, Rhamondre Stevenson, J.K. Dobbins, and James Cook all scored under 10 fantasy points last week.

Running Back Notes

  • Let’s start with Hunt as my RB8. If you picked up Hunt on waivers a few weeks ago, you might have gotten the waiver wire pickup of the year. Hunt has had back-to-back games with over 20 carries in each game and has three touchdowns. He is looking like his 2017 version. This is his backfield and he has a great matchup against the Raiders this week. The Raiders are giving up 23.2 fantasy points per game to RBs.
  • Tank Bigsby is another waiver wire pickup that is looking like a steal of the year as well. He is my RB21 this week against the Green Bay Packers. The Packers are middle-of-the-road when it comes to defending the run. Currently, they are giving up just over 20 fantasy points per game to RBs. And Bigsby is averaging 17.2 fantasy points over his last three games. In two of those games, he scored 25.4 and 23.8. He doesn’t catch the ball much, but he is efficient on the ground. He is averaging 6.2 yards per carry and has four rushing touchdowns on the year.
  • Rachaad White could be a sneaky start this week. White is my RB30 this week and with Chris Godwin and Mike Evans out, he could be huge in the passing game. I don’t see him being effective in the running game, but White is an elite pass catcher. The Buccaneers have the Falcons this week who are elite against the run game, so this is where I see White being valuable in the passing game. He is a risky flex-start but could be a huge payoff this week.
  • Lastly, I have James Conner as my RB18 this week against the Dolphins. I will admit, I missed my prediction on Conner last week thinking he was losing his carries. I was wrong. Last week, he had 19 carries compared to Emari Demercado’s one carry. Conner also had two catches for 51 yards. The Dolphins are the sixth-worst fantasy defense against RBs and are giving up an average of 24.5 fantasy points per game. I would start Conner confidently this week.
