Fantasy Football 2024: Week 8 Wide Receiver Rankings

As we roll into my Week 8 wide receiver rankings, I must say this one will be the most important in setting your lineup. Last week had to be one of the worst weeks for injuries. Not only did Mike Evans injure his hamstring, but Chris Godwin dislocated his ankle in the same game. The list goes on; DK Metcalf sprained his knee and Brandon Aiyuk tore his ACL and MCL.

These are all long-term and season-ending injuries between these big-name wide receivers. There is also a chance you may have a couple of these guys on your roster. If that is the case then you need to check out where I ranked this week’s wide receivers.

Wide Receiver Notes

  • Let’s start with Jaxon Smith-Njigba as my WR27 against the Bills. Now that Metcalf is out, this is the time that Smith-Njigba truly shines. On the season he has 55 targets compared to Tyler Lockett’s 46 targets. Smith-Njigba is tied for ninth as the most-targeted wide receiver this season. Now he does have a tougher matchup this week with the Bills, as they are only allowing 22.7 fantasy points per game to wide receivers. But, Smith-Njigba looks like the only option this week and I do see a breakout game happening.
  • Tyreek Hill jumps up to my WR5 spot this week against the Cardinals. It looks as if Tua Tagovailoa will suit up this week, as he is designated to practice this week. If Tagovailoa plays then this means Hill is back to being a top-five wide receiver. In Week 1 Hill had 130 yards and one touchdown along with seven receptions. That was against the Jaguars who are the fourth-worst fantasy defense against wide receivers. This week the Dolphins have the Cardinals who are giving up 29.5 fantasy points per game to wide receivers this season, and that ranks them as the seventh most.
  • Cooper Kupp is set to return this week and is my WR9 against the Vikings. There is not much to this one. If Kupp is healthy then he is a must-start. Especially Puka Nacua still out. Kupp is a top-10 wide receiver every week unless proven otherwise.
  • Lastly, I have Romeo Doubs as my WR30 this week as the Packers take on the Jaguars. Doubs has become a top target for Jordan Love in the last two weeks with 14 targets that added up to 11 receptions, two touchdowns, and 143 yards. This week the Packers have an easy matchup against the Jaguars and I expect Love to air it out to his receivers.
