As we roll into Week 9 and this week’s RB rankings we can take a look at why Jalen Hurts is affecting Saquon Barkley’s touchdown production. On the other side, we can look at how Tua Tagovailoa put De’Von Achane back into a top fantasy RB. Quarterbacks play a huge role in how RBs play during the game. Either they can open up the field for the run game or steal their goal-line touchdowns. On that note, we can get into some notes on my RB rankings for Week 9.
Running Back Notes
- Let’s start with Jonathan Taylor as my RB11 this week against the Vikings. The Vikings are a tough team against RBs. But, they aren’t invincible. They gave up 119 scrimmage yards and a touchdown to Kyren Williams last week. The week before they gave up 116 rushing yards and two touchdowns to Jahmyr Gibbs. This week is interesting with Taylor. Anthony Richardson is benched this week for Joe Flacco. With Richardson out this opens up the run game for Taylor. Richardson is averaging right around 40 rushing yards per game this season. On top of that, Taylor looks just as good as he did before his ankle injury. He had 105 rushing yards and a touchdown last week. He is a solid start this week and Flacco should have the offense playing more efficiently.
- D’Andre Swift is my RB13 this week against the Cardinals. Swift has been on a tear as of late. Since Week 4 Swift has finished inside the top-10 for RBs each of those weeks. Including a top-2 and top-3 finish. This week he has the Cardinals who are giving up the fifth most fantasy points per game to RBs in 24.2. He will continue his roll this week.
- Next, I have Kareem Hunt as my RB17 against the Buccaneers. Hunt has four touchdowns in his last three games. He is the workhorse by a mile for the Chiefs and is a must-start again this week. This should be a high-scoring game and I expect Hunt to get some more goal-line touches this week.
- Lastly, I have Rhamondre Stevenson as my RB26 this week against the Titans. I have Stevenson lower this week because the Titans do have an underrated defense. I know last week doesn’t show as the Lions dropped 52 on them. But, the Patriots aren’t as high-powered as the Lions. The Titans are holding RBs to 21.1 fantasy points per game. This is high but the average did jump up since last week with Gibbs putting up 127 yards and a touchdown.
