Fantasy Football Week 6 Matchup Winners

I dedicate a lot of time and effort to this series and I take pride in identifying players who are likely to have a big week. This article is designed to assist you with your Fantasy Football lineups and DFS plays, giving you an advantage in your competitions.

Every week, I conduct a thorough analysis of every NFL matchup. This involves examining Fantasy PPG (points per game) allowedyards allowed, and player performances, and then identifying which players can benefit from these statistics in their matchups. I hold myself accountable for both my successful picks and the ones that don’t pan out. Some misses from last week’s article include Cade Otton, Justice Hill, Antonio Gibson, Jerry Jeudy, and Brock Purdy. Some nice hits from Week 5 include:

  • Kirk Cousins – 35.4 points
  • Chuba Hubbard – 17.5 points
  • D’Andre Swift – 20 points
  • Tee Higgins – 29.3 points
  • Joe Flacco – 26.6 points
  • Javonte Williams – 16.1 points
  • Tucker Kraft – 24.8 points
  • Kenneth Walker III – 14.6 points
  • Kareem Hunt – 18.7 points

Week 6 will be a big one for us from this article I can feel it! Keep in mind that the Chiefs, Rams, Dolphins, and Vikings all have a BYE this week. My intention as a content creator has always been to help you “Play 2 Win”, and that aligns with the mission of this series. NFL Week 6 – let’s get it.

Fantasy Football Week 6 Matchup Winners

49ers vs. Seahawks (Thursday Night Football)

  • The Seahawks currently rank 14th in Fantasy PPG allowed to running backs and 13th in rushing yards per game allowed which makes them a middle-of-the-table sort of matchup but one Jordan Mason can bounce back in. Seattle allows 128 rushing yards per game and Mason currently ranks first in opportunity share at a huge 93.3% and also first in rushing attempts Wat 105. Even in a “down” Fantasy week due to scoring a season-low 8.8 Fantasy Points, Mason still managed 89 yards on the ground. Mason has totaled the second most rushing yards this season at 536 and has averaged 107.2 through five weeks. 16.6 Fantasy PPG is the 11th best for the position.
  • The 49ers are not a great matchup on paper for running backs, but Kenneth Walker III has shown us some great signs of production through the three games he has played this season. KWIII rushed for 103 and a touchdown in Week 1 then for 80 yards and three touchdowns in Week 4 which shows a solid rushing ceiling. KWIII just last week caught seven passes for 57 yards, which shows the potential to have some receiving upside which is something we do not tie tightly to him. 18.9, 33.6, and 14.6 Fantasy scores makes KWIII a guy you need to keep in your lineups.

Jaguars vs. Bears (Sunday Morning Game)

  • I am not telling you to sit your studs for Tank Bigsby, but if you are in desperation mode for a running back you can take a shot here. Bigsby rushed for 90 yards in Week 4 playing 29% of the snaps, then followed that up in Week 5 playing 40% of the snaps rushing 13 times for 101 yards and two touchdowns and adding a 28-yard reception to his total. 25.9 Fantasy Points in Week 4 led the position. Do I think the Jaguars just bench Travis Etienne? No. Do I think Bigsby is earning more snaps and more work? Yes. Bigsby actually logged seven more carries than Etienne last week. The Bears allow the 10th most Fantasy PPG to running backs so far this season.
  • Caleb Williams is one of my favorite starts this week against a Jaguars defense that allows the most Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks and allow the most passing yards per game. The first overall draft pick in 2024 has been flashing his stellar profile and the upside attached to it the last few weeks. In Week 3 Williams threw for 363 yards and then he threw for 304 in Week 5. Across the last three games, Williams has thrown five touchdowns as well. His 23.56 Fantasy Points last week was a season-high and that could certainly be beat in Week 6.

Commanders vs. Ravens

  • Jayden Daniels has been one of the hottest players in all of Fantasy Football, which is even more significant because he is a rookie. Daniels ranks second for quarterbacks in Fantasy PPG with 23.1, is #12 in passing yards with 1,135, ranks second in yards per attempt with 8.7, and ranks second in rushing yards with 300. Daniels has passed for 230+ yards for three straight games, has thrown four touchdowns across the last three games, has games of 88 and 82 rushing yards, and has rushed for four touchdowns so far this season. So much upside for the second overall pick. The Ravens allow the fourth most Fantasy PPG so far this season.
  • After scoring under six Fantasy Points two weeks in a row, Zay Flowers bounced back for Fantasy Football with 19 points in Week 5. The down Weeks 3 and 4 were not necessarily Flowers’ fault as the Ravens abandoned the passing game with Lamar Jackson only throwing 15 then 18 times in those games. Week 1 Jackson threw 41 times and in Week 5 42 times which shows potential for volume through the air. Flowers caught seven of 11 targets for 91 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 for 22.1 points. In Week 5 Flowers caught seven of 12 targets for 111 receiving yards which meant 19 Fantasy Points. Baltimore finds ways to get the ball in Flowers’ hands whether it’s screens, rushing attempts, or designed deep plays. The Commanders allow the sixth most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers so far this season.

Cardinals vs. Packers

  • Week 6 just feels like a big Trey McBride week. After missing Week 4, McBride returned to action to catch six of his nine targets for 53 yards which marked the second week he caught six passes, the second week he was targeted nine times, and the second week finishing with over 50 receiving yards. The Packers allow the eighth most Fantasy PPG to tight ends and the 10th most passing yards per game this season. This seems like the sort of game script where Kyler Murray will have to throw the ball 30+ times, which could mean a splash Fantasy week for McBride in the way we saw a handful last year.
  • The Cardinals allow the fifth most rushing yards per game and the eighth most Fantasy PPG to running backs this season which sounds nice for Josh Jacobs. Jacobs has shown flashes of rushing upside this season with rushing totals of 84 (Week 1) and 151 (Week 2). Jacobs has been steady with four weeks of 11+ Fantasy Points, but hopefully, Week 5’s 16.4 points is a sign of some heavier scoring to come.

Texans vs. Patriots

  • Nico Collins unfortunately hit the IR this week which will free up targets as Nico was averaging 10.8 per game. Tank Dell, who had some huge weeks last season as a rookie but has been unimpressive this year so far, could get a much-needed boost. Dell scored a season-high 11.2 Fantasy Points in Week 3 but has scored under nine Fantasy Points in his other three games played. Last season the rookie to rookie CJ Stroud to Dell connection resulted in Dell finishing weeks with 145, 114, and 149 receiving yards with four top 12 Fantasy weeks. The Patriots allow the eighth most passing yards per game this season, which could mean we see a FLEX-worthy week finally out of Tank.
  • Drake Maye will get his first start of the season this week after sitting behind Jacoby Brissett. I am not saying to start Ja’Lynn Polk, but I would suggest stashing him if he is available and you have the roster spot. Maye was selected in the first round of this year’s NFL Draft, and Polk was the next move the Patriots made in the second round. Polk has been targeted 13 times across the last two weeks and scored back in Week 2. The Maye to Polkk connection had plenty of camp highlights, and if Maye elevates this offense with his playmaking abilities that would mean Polk rising for Fantasy Football.

Buccaneers vs. Saints

  • Cade Otton has streaming potential in Week 6 against a Saints defense who has allowed the 11th most Fantasy PPG to tight ends. Otton was targeted 17 times across Weeks 3-4, catching 13 of those during those two games. Otton has also finished with 44+ receiving yards now for three straight games. Signs of target potential paired with a hint of decent yardage could mean double-digit points this week.
  • There will be a lot of “Start/Sit” questions surrounding the Saints players with a backup (like Spencer Rattler) getting the start due to Derek Carr’s oblique injury. Alvin Kamara has had weeks of 22, 44, and 24.9 Fantasy Points this season. 83, 115, 87, 77 rushing lies paired with three weeks of five or more receptions and four weeks of 40+ receiving yards. Despite a backup quarterback playing, it is still the same coaching staff that will implement their playmaking veteran running back into their game plan heavily in Week 6. Kamara should not be benched due to this situational change. His role is sticky regardless of the quarterback, and the ways to get him the ball are much less complicated than the receivers.

Browns vs. Eagles

  • I talked about Jerry Jeudy being a FLEX option last week, which ended up being a flop. Deshaun Watson throwing just 53.6% for 125 yards in Week 5 helped no one. The Philadelphia Eagles currently allow the second-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers and the ninth-most passing yards per game this week, which presents a good matchup for Jeudy yet again. Jeudy has finished three weeks with 11+ Fantasy Points, three weeks with seven or more targets, and two weeks with over 70 receiving yards this season. If Watson (or Jameis Winston) can pick up the quarterback play then Jeudy can have a FLEX-worthy week.
  • AJ Brown is expected to return in Week 6 from his hamstring injury against the Browns who allow the 11th most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers. We only saw one game from AJB this season in Week 1, where he caught five of his 10 targets for 119 yards and a touchdown for 22.9 Fantasy Points. AJB has been the epitome of receiving yard upside the last two seasons, with both of them resulting in 1,450+ yards and 17 Fantasy PPG. Straight back into your lineups when he is officially cleared.

Colts vs. Titans

  • We likely see Will Levis this week but in the event his shoulder holds him out then we would have Mason Rudolph. In either case, the Colts are a good matchup to toss a dart at Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins depending on who you have. The Colts allow the ninth most Fantasy PPG to tight ends and the fourth most passing yards per game this season. Ridley caught four passes for 77 yards and a touchdown in Week 2 for 24.7 Fantasy Points. Hopkins caught six passes for 73 yards and a touchdown for 19.3 Fantasy Points in Week 3. So one solid week from both in very similar ways, but the rest were poor scores. I trust this matchup, it just depends on who shows up in it.

Chargers vs. Broncos

  • Both of these defenses are fairly strong in terms of not allowing solid Fantasy PPG to any specific position with a player worth noting.

Steelers vs. Raiders

  • Najee Harris was a whiff of mine last week, but I am giving him a second shot in this matchup against the Raiders who allow the seventh most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the 10th most rushing yards per game. Najee has finished two weeks with 70 rushing yards, one with five receptions, another week with 54 receiving yards, and two weeks with 21+ touches. This Raiders matchup can create a game script in favor of Najee to see solid volume and put him in a position to score his first touchdown of the season.
  • The Steelers are not the best matchup, but I want to highlight Jakobi Meyers’ targets the last few weeks since Davante Adams likely will not take another snap as a Raider. Meyers has been targeted nine, 10, nine times the last three games with Fantasy scores of 21.2, 9.9, 13.2 points. Brock Bowers is the best weapon in the offense, but Meyers’ role grows in terms of target consistency with Adams likely traded. FLEX consideration weekly moving forward even with the shaky quarterback room.

Falcons vs. Panthers

  • The Panthers allow the second-most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the sixth-most rushing yards per game this season. We are finally going to get a massive Bijan Robinson week. Bijan opened up the season with two 16-point Fantasy performances but then scored 13.2, 11.4, and 10.7 points in the weeks after. Not the Fantasy production we expected out of the running back who was ranked almost universally to be top-three for Fantasy Football this season. 97 rushing yards in Week 2, a rushing touchdown in Week 3, and two weeks over 40 receiving yards present some signs of upside that we just want to see more often and in combination. This Panthers matchup will be just that in a game I project him to rush for over 100 yards and score in.

Lions vs. Cowboys

  • The Cowboys have allowed the fifth-most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the ninth-most rushing yards per game this season. Jahmyr Gibbs is currently averaging 17.8 Fantasy PPG and David Montgomery is averaging 17.4 Fantasy PPG. Both running backs have been extremely productive for Detroit and should remain in your lineups for this Cowboys matchup.
  • Jalen Tolbert earned a season-high 10 targets in Week 5 which resulted in a season-high 21.7 Fantasy Points. Tolbert caught seven passes for 87 yards and a touchdown last week which was his second touchdown across the last three games. Tolbert has scored 13+ Fantasy Points in three of his five games this year which proves he is a FLEX option. Especially in this Detroit matchup which likely is a game script focused on heavy passing. The Lions allow the fourth-most Fantasy PPG to wide receivers and the sixth-most passing yards per game.

Bengals vs Giants (Sunday Night Football)

  • Daniel Jones is quietly having a solid Fantasy Football season. Jones has scored 18+ Fantasy Points in three of his five appearances this season, with a season-best 22.08 last week without his stud rookie Malik Nabers. Danny Dimes has passed for over 250 yards for two weeks in a row, thrown a pair of touchdowns in three games, and has rushed for over 30 yards twice. The Bengals allow the fifth-most Fantasy PPG to quarterbacks this season which presents a solid matchup for Jones to be streamed.

Bills vs. Jets (Monday Night Football)

  • The Bills allow the most Fantasy PPG to running backs and the seventh-most rushing yards per game this season. Breece Hall has scored under nine Fantasy Points for two weeks in a row now, with just 12 touches in both games. Braelon Allen has earned a role and been productive but Hall finished with double the touches last week. Hall did open up the season with scores of 18.3, 24.4, and 18.3 Fantasy Points in weeks he scored a touchdown in each game. The Bills matchup is extremely friendly to running backs which creates a bounce-back opportunity.
