Week 5 was an adventure. We had canceled games, rescheduled games, and an outdoor game that started in the afternoon and ended after midnight. The NHL is getting creative and so are teams when it comes to goalies. Some of the names we touched on last week, like Alex Nedeljkovic (21%), had monster performances, as the Hurricanes rookie shut out the Tampa Bay Lightning. Mike Smith (55%) got three starts and won two of them. Same for Kevin Lankinen (74%) as the Chicago Blackhawks keep rolling. Chris Driedger (50%) won three straight. Hopefully, if you needed a start you were able to grab one or two of these guys. But enough of that. In fantasy hockey, it’s always about the next matchup. Let’s get to it with your fantasy hockey goalie streams for Week 6.

Fantasy Hockey Goalie Streams For Week 6
Buffalo Sabres
Last week we started out by looking at Linus Ullmark (68%) and Carter Hutton (30%). The focus is the same this week as the Sabres are the only team in the NHL with five games. That’s right, five games, in just one week. Buffalo goes on the road for a back-to-back Monday/Tuesday versus the New York Islanders and the New Jersey Devils. Then it’s back home for another against the Devils on Thursday followed by a back-to-back on Saturday/Sunday with the Philadelphia Flyers in town.
My bet would be Ullmark getting three of the five starts with Hutton playing in two of the back-to-backs. Both of these goalies have been inconsistent along with their team, but the Sabres are coming off a big 3-2 win in New Jersey. Streaming either or both Sabres goalies could pay off this week, especially in leagues where saves count.
Arizona Coyotes
The Coyotes have four games this week and the first two are against the Anaheim Ducks on Monday and Wednesday. The Ducks don’t like scoring goals. They sit last in the league with only 1.83 goals per game. On top of that, they placed struggling Adam Henrique on waivers. This is the guy that led the team in scoring last season with 26 goals. Darcy Kuemper (85%) is probably not available in your league. If he is, snatch him up. Antii Raanta (30%) is currently day-to-day with an upper-body injury while Adin Hill (10%) fills in to back up Kuemper. Keep an eye on this situation as whichever goalie gets the starts versus the Ducks is a fantastic fantasy hockey goalie stream for week 6.
The Coyotes face the Colorado Avalanche in the second half of the week with a back-to-back on Friday/Saturday. This will be a much tougher test for the Coyotes as the Avalanche score over 3.00 goals per game so you might want to look at other options for the weekend.
Columbus Blue Jackets
The Jackets have a pair at home versus the surprising Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday/Thursday and a back-to-back on the weekend in Nashville. While the Blackhawks have been exceeding all expectations, they are less likely to win on the road. The Predators meanwhile, are pretty awful this year and are third-worst in the NHL scoring only 2.17 goals per game.
Elvis Merzlikins (72%) left with an arm injury on Saturday and is day-to-day. Joonas Korpisalo (82%) will get most of the starts in his absence. If he’s available in your league don’t hesitate to start him this week. If Elvis doesn’t return soon then consider Matiss Kivlenieks (6%) as he might get his first start of the season on the weekend road trip.
Detroit Red Wings
The Red Wings are not going to be a safe pick on any night this year. However, this week they have a decent schedule and both of their goalies have low ownership. Thomas Greiss (28%) and Jonathan Bernier (21%) are both likely to be available. The Wings play four times this week, twice against low-scoring Nashville on Tuesday/Thursday and then back-to-back versus the Blackhawks on the weekend. Greiss has been getting the majority of starts (14 GP) while Bernier (8GP) has the better peripheral stats. If your league is deep then grabbing one or both of these guys could pay off as a fantasy hockey goalie stream for week 6.
Florida Panthers
We are going back to the well here with Chris Driedger (50%). The Panthers have four games all at home this week. They play the Dallas Stars three times including a back-to-back and then the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday. If it isn’t clear who the better goalie is in Florida by now then it may never be. Sergei Bobrovsky (86%) will keep getting chances to right the ship, but Driedger is the one that should be on your radar as he continues to get the job done.
Pittsburgh Penguins
Since the recent changes in the front office in Pittsburgh, Tristan Jarry (83%) has suddenly found his form. He has three wins and a .936 save percentage over his last four starts while facing a ton of shots. On the chance he is available in your league this week could be the one to grab him. The Penguins face the Washington Capitals twice on Tuesday/Thursday followed by a back-to-back against the New York Islanders on Saturday/Sunday. Expect Casey DeSmith (30%) to draw in for one of the weekend games. If you need a late-week spot start he’s probably available in your league.
Those are your fantasy hockey goalie streams for week 6. See you next week!
