It’s Week 9 and by now you know if your team is a contender or a pretender. Maybe you are competing for the ultimate prize (bragging rights), or maybe you are in full rebuild mode. Either way, if you are reading this then like me, you live for the competition. Look no further for your fantasy hockey goalie streams for Week 9.
This week there are three teams that only play twice. The Toronto Maple Leafs, the Ottawa Senators and the Columbus Blue Jackets can all be safely avoided. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Pittsburgh Penguins are both slated to play five games each. Our main focus will be on those two with a few others thrown in for good measure.

Fantasy Hockey Goalie Streams For Week 9
Curtis McElhinney (12%)
McElhinney plays back up to arguably the best goalie in the league in Andrei Vasilevskiy (100%) and for the best team in the league in the Tampa Bay Lightning. Yet he gets no respect! The current Stanley Cup Champion Lightning are also the current overall NHL leaders in points and goals for per game (3.73) and third in goals against per game (2.31). The Lightning play five games in seven nights and two back-to-back games. McElhinney will be counted on for at least two prime starts this week. Tampa begins the week at home versus Nashville and then the next night in Dallas. They end the week at home against Chicago on Friday and Florida on Saturday. Pick up McElhinney by Monday morning and hold until Sunday night as the Lightning will be heavy favorites.
Casey DeSmith (28%)
The Penguins have a pair at home on Monday/Tuesday versus the recently struggling Bruins, followed by three in a row in New Jersey with a back-to-back on the weekend against the low-scoring Devils. DeSmith is coming off two wins in a row with the last being a 24 save shut out of the Buffalo Sabres. DeSmith will get at least two starts this week and is available in most leagues.
Jake Allen (44%)
The Montreal Canadiens are kryptonite for the Vancouver Canucks. It just so happens that they play a back-to-back on Friday/Saturday at home and Jake Allen will get the call for one of those contests. So far this year Allen is 4-3-3 in 10 games played with a 2.28 GAA and .922 SV%. He is also 2-0 against the Canucks.
Ville Husso (22%)
Husso was not great in his last outing for the Blues, allowing four goals on only 25 shots in a 5-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights. Overall however, he is 5-3-1 in 10 games played and will likely get a weekend start in San Jose versus the 23rd place Sharks.
Laurent Brossoit (15%)
Brossoit doesn’t get to play much as the backup in Winnipeg to workhorse Connor Hellebuyck (100%). However, when he does get the chance to play for the Jets he has been extremely effective. Brossoit is 5-1 in six starts, with a 2.48 GAA and .921 SV% including a recent 5-2 win over the high scoring Toronto Maple Leafs. He will likely get a game in this week when the Jets play a back-to-back on Wednesday/Thursday. Buyer beware here though as Winnipeg will be flying home from Montreal to play in Edmonton against Connor McDavid’s Oilers.
