Long-Term Injury Reserve Report

The following players have been placed on the LTIR by their respective NHL teams. Furthermore, LTIR allows the team to exceed the NHL’s salary cap, however, if a player is placed on the LTIR, they will need to miss at least 10 NHL games and 24 calendar days before returning.

  • Jesper Fast – RW, Carolina Hurricanes (Neck)
  • Gabriel Landeskog – LW, Colorado Avalanche (Knee)
  • Miles Wood  – LW, Colorado Avalanche (Upper Body)

  • T.J. Oshie – RW, Washington Capitals (Back)

Depending on how your league is set up, you likely will have a spot or two in the IR. If your player is listed as day-to-day, you shouldn’t use the IR spot unless it means increasing your chance to win the week. However, in most cases, GMs typically wait out the injury as it only lasts a few days.

If your player is listed in the IR section of this list, you should place them on the IR and pick up another player that’s on the free agent list. When you get the Doughty or Kane, their injuries will keep them out for the bulk of the season, which could result in the GMs releasing them and looking for an alternative option.

Be sure to check back in next week for an updated NHL weekly injury report. Until then, best of luck dealing with your team’s injuries!
