Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Week 13 Forward Streams

With a regular week of hockey, there are some talented players sitting on the waiver wire ready to boost your team to success this week. As far as streamers go at forward, the players I have picked this week fit that bill to a tee. None of them should probably be held on to for very long unless there’s room on your team and they continue to play very well. So let’s dive into the forward streams for Week 13.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 13

Morgan Geekie, Boston Bruins

Morgan Geekie has been elevated to the top line and top power play of the Boston Bruins and is performing due to that. While he is on PP1, the units are a bit more evened out. Regardless, he has been able to pop four goals and seven points in his last seven games. Two of those points have come on the man advantage. While he’s getting a good amount of playing time every game, he shoots and hits to add more fantasy value.

I don’t think this is just a hot streak by Geekie. He likely won’t continue a point-per-game pace for the second half of the season, but he also shouldn’t drop right off with where he’s playing in the lineup and showing he’s deserving of it. Geekie had just four goals and nine points in 26 games before this two-week stretch. The Bruins also play four times this week, so he will have many more opportunities to add to his totals while he’s hot. The opponents of the Bruins are the Washington Capitals, New York Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and New York Islanders.

Sean Monahan, Columbus Blue Jackets

Sean Monahan is having a career resurgence in Columbus as the top-line center with some young and dynamic wingers. The top line of Monahan, Kirill Marchenko (listed as a streamer here earlier in the season), and Dmitri Voronkov have carried the team offensively and hardly take nights off. Monahan doesn’t necessarily play a physical game, but he will get you the points you need.

Monahan has four goals and eight points in his last five games and regularly logs over 20 minutes of ice time per game. He plays on the top power play as well as kills penalties. This offensive ability by Monahan isn’t new, it just hasn’t been seen for a number of years because of his health. He is very much back and while his linemates are a bit more sought-after and rostered, he is still a good choice to stream. The Columbus Blue Jackets face the Carolina Hurricanes, Detroit Red Wings, and St. Louis Blues this week.

Nick Paul, Tampa Bay Lightning

While this pick of Nick Paul is because he is playing good hockey and on the Tampa Bay Lightning with the offensive stars, it is also so you have a strong option for purely later in the week. The Lightning are off until Thursday and have three games in the final four days of the week. That means that you can jump on streaming someone else for a couple of days and then utilize him for the end of the week and have an even greater edge.

Paul has nine goals and 20 points in 28 games on the season. It has been an up year for him, that’s for sure, but he isn’t slowing down either. He has a first place in the Lightning’s top-6 and is currently on the same line as Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov. It is very rare where you’ll find someone on the waiver wire with an opportunity like his playing alongside two of the best offensive players in the game. Paul has three goals and six points in his previous six games (2 on the power play) and the Lightning play the San Jose Sharks, Los Angeles Kings, and Anaheim Ducks. These are favourable matchups and he should light it up.

There are some solid streamers on the waiver wire if you look hard enough, especially at forward where options are abundant. Some may choose the second you pick them up to stop performing as well, but for the best options every week, make sure to come back in a week for more.
