Fantasy Hockey Week 11 Waiver-Wire Defenseman

The waiver wire is a great way to add hidden gems and overlooked players to your fantasy hockey club. This remains true whether you plan to have them as short-term or long-term parts of your fantasy hockey roster. Now that we are over two months into the season, we better understand which waiver-wire defensemen are worth snagging. As a result, here are three waiver-wire defensemen worth adding to your roster in Week 11.

Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Defensemen to Consider for Week 11

Conor Timmins, Toronto Maple Leafs

One waiver-wire defenseman whom fantasy managers should target in Week 11 is Conor Timmins. The 25-year-old is playing excellently with the Toronto Maple Leafs as of late. He has had a point in each of his last five games, dating back to Dec. 9’s contest against the Nashville Predators. He is thriving in a bigger role with Toronto, and that helps add to his fantasy hockey value.

Since returning from injury, Timmins has looked excellent, and he’s improved the Maple Leafs’ right side. He is showing no signs of slowing down and is starting to get more playing time because of it. Due to this, he’s a waiver-wire defenseman to add immediately.

Torey Krug, St. Louis Blues

Speaking of defenseman heating up, Torey Krug certainly has. The 32-year-old is making a big impact for the St. Louis Blues as of late. Over his last two games, the 5-foot-9 defenseman has three assists to go along with a plus-1 rating. With that, he has five points over his last five games, so he has been consistent. Because of this, he’s a waiver-wire addition worth making.

Throughout his career, Krug has been an effective offensive defenseman. While he had a rough season in 2022-23, he has been bouncing back beautifully this campaign and is only getting better. He’s a clear waiver-wire defenseman to consider bringing in this week because of this.

Kevin Shattenkirk, Boston Bruins

While Kevin Shattenkirk is in the later stages of his career, he has been a strong addition to the Bruins’ defensive group this season. However, his play as of late has been particularly impressive. With Charlie McAvoy sidelined, the 34-year-old has played top-pairing minutes and has looked great in the process. He had a two-point game against the New York Islanders and has three points over his last four games. Thus, he warrants real consideration as a waiver-wire addition.

Shattenkirk’s offense has improved lately, and the Bruins are benefitting from it. While he may no longer be the star defenseman he was during his prime, his play is still solid, and he has the potential to be an impactful waiver-wire addition. This is especially so if he continues to produce offensively as the campaign continues.

It is clear that fantasy managers have some excellent waiver-wire defensemen to consider for Week 11. Timmins is on fire, Krug is looking like his former self, and Shattenkirk is taking advantage of his increased minutes. Let’s see if these three defensemen can keep their stellar play up from here.
