The waiver wire is a great place to find hidden gems that will help your fantasy hockey team in the short term and sometimes the long term as well. You have likely already taken advantage of this through the first 13 weeks of the NHL season. Regardless, there will still be strong options on the waiver wire at forward that we will look at. Even if it is only for a few games, these players are worth adding to help your team out. This is the place where you can find good options to take advantage of before anyone else in your league does.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire: Forwards to Consider for Week 14
Jake DeBrusk, Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins have been playing very well recently and scoring a lot of goals. This offense is coming from more than just a couple of players as well. Most notably, Jake DeBrusk has really stepped up in the last two weeks and has been getting on the scoresheet. This is a great thing for the Bruins and for fantasy owners looking for a player who is rolling.
The Bruins play four times this week against the Colorado Avalanche, Arizona Coyotes, Vegas Golden Knights, and St. Louis Blues. There is lots of room for him to continue to score. The winger is on a six-game point streak consisting of four goals and four assists. Four of those points have come on the power play, and many of us know how hard it is to come by power-play points sometimes. DeBrusk has the ability to shoot, hit, and block shots. While he’s scoring, he’s a must-add in the Bruins’ top six.
Tyler Seguin, Dallas Stars
The Dallas Stars’ top nine continue to lead the charge for the team. There are eight forwards with at least 23 points. But the player we are focusing on here is Tyler Seguin. He has had somewhat of a resurgence alongside Matt Duchene and Mason Marchment. Seguin has been producing at a good rate offensively this season and is recently starting to shoot more, resulting in more goals. It has led him to score four goals and six points in his last four games.
The Stars are another team that plays four times this week, but their back-to-back comes later in the week. This has the potential for a late week pickup to get extra games out of your fantasy lineup. The Stars play the Minnesota Wild twice before playing the Nashville Predators and Chicago Blackhawks on back-to-back days. This is an easier schedule and one Seguin and the team can take advantage of offensively.
Vlad Namestnikov, Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets took over the top spot in the NHL in points and a lot of factors have gone into that. One player that the Jets likely weren’t expecting to make as big of an impact as he has is Vlad Namestnikov. The veteran is currently centering the second line and has been hot lately. Of the three players mentioned here, this one has the potential to last the shortest amount of time. If he isn’t producing offensively, he isn’t very valuable in fantasy as he doesn’t shoot or hit a ton.
The Jets play three times this week, but it is an easy schedule matching up against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Blackhawks, and Philadelphia Flyers (who are struggling). Namestnikov has two goals and six assists in his last six games, two of them coming on the power play. The Jets are a very good team and should continue putting up a lot of goals. It is just a matter of if Namestnikov is in on a lot of them. Right now, he’s hot and you should grab him to play against some weak opponents.
