There are some good goalie options you can add to your fantasy team in the 23rd week of the 2023-24 NHL season. Whether you need netminders for this week or longer, we’ll cover the best ones to pick up. When looking for goalies to stream in fantasy hockey, it’s best to look at back-to-backs, if there are injuries to starters, or if a starter is struggling. This is a look at the three best goalie streams in Week 23 of the fantasy hockey season.
Fantasy Hockey Week 23 Goalie Streams
Joseph Woll, Toronto Maple Leafs
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been doing well lately thanks to Ilya Samsonov, He has been very good since coming back up from the AHL this season and finding his game again. Even after Joseph Woll, who had taken over starting duties before his injury, came back into the lineup, Samsonov is still getting the starts. That should change this week as the Maple Leafs play two back-to-back games.
This means Samsonov is only going to be starting two of those games and the other two will be left to Woll most likely since Martin Jones hasn’t played since Feb. 22. If Woll gets the start on the second game for both back-to-backs, he will match up against the Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes this time around. The other games are against the Philadelphia Flyers and Edmonton Oilers. These aren’t easy games, but Toronto can handle their own. Woll has a 9-7-1 record on the season with a .911 SV%, so he’s capable of getting a win or two in fantasy this week.
Laurent Brossoit, Winnipeg Jets
Laurent Brossoit should be considered one of the best backup goalies in the league. The problem has been that he is behind Connor Hellebuyck who should win the Vezina Trophy this season. When Brossoit gets the opportunity to play, he has taken full advantage of it, recording back-to-back shutouts, winning five in a row, and posting a record of 9-1-1 in his last 11 games.
The Winnipeg Jets play four times this week and two of those games happen to be on a back-to-back. Hellebuyck hasn’t played at the level Brossoit has recently and the team is fighting to win the division. Brossoit even got the start on the first half of the back-to-back on the weekend. With games against the New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, and then the New York Islanders and Capitals one day after another, the Jets may very well split the games down the middle, especially if Brossoit continues to shut the door.
Calvin Pickard, Edmonton Oilers
The Edmonton Oilers have an easier group of teams on tap this week, which means that they could give Stuart Skinner some more rest again. Backup Calvin Pickard has played very well this season and has earned the starts when he gets them. Since the four games the Oilers play this week are against teams in the other conference as well, this makes the Oilers splitting the starts that much more likely.
As Pickard is 9-4-0 with a .919 SV% and a shutout, he will be locked in for at least one start but could get another against the Buffalo Sabres in the middle of the week. The Oilers match up against the Montreal Canadiens, Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, then the Ottawa Senators the following day. Pickard will get a start against the Senators who aren’t very strong, but as Skinner faced Buffalo last time, he might get that night off. Or since the Canadiens aren’t very good either, Pickard could get in the net there. The Oilers are a top team in the league and if this week goes according to plan, Pickard could be a big help in fantasy hockey.

Make sure to take advantage of these goalies for this week. The longer you wait, the more of a chance someone you may want is picked up before you get to them. There are early games that you will want to take advantage of as well. While a couple of these goaltenders should get at least one start this week, be sure to keep an eye on any other options throughout the week that may become solid options as well.
