The fourth week of the 2023-24 NHL season is underway and there are goalies to be added. Whether you need options for your fantasy hockey team this week or a bit longer, we’ll cover the best netminders to add. When looking for goalie streams in fantasy hockey, it’s best to look at back-to-backs and if there are injuries to starters. That is what we have for you here today. This is a look at the three best options in net to stream in Week 4 of the fantasy hockey season.
Fantasy Hockey Week 4 Goalie Streams
Connor Ingram, Arizona Coyotes
By what has been shown from the Arizona Coyotes this season, they aren’t good, but they also aren’t a bad team. They will compete every night, which gives their goaltenders a fighting chance in net. The Coyotes’ goaltending has never really been the problem while the team has constantly been in a rebuild. The team should be confident in their tandem right now and the team is on the rise.
While Karel Vejmelka is proving that he should be the starter, it will still be split time for the most part for the time being. The Coyotes play four games this week against weaker opponents, including a back-to-back in the middle of the week. I can see Arizona giving each goalie two starts. They face the Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, Montreal Canadiens, and Winnipeg Jets. Connor Ingram is the target for you here. He is 1-1-0 with a 3.20 goals against average (GAA) and .889 saver percentage (SV%). Those are bound to get better with more games and when going up against weaker teams.
Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres are having a tough time in net right now. Devon Levi isn’t set to return just yet and Eric Comrie is considered week-to-week. This leaves Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen as the starter for the time being. At the very least, he is going to play a game this week. The Sabres play the Philadelphia Flyers twice in the middle of the week and also have a back-to-back.
There is a chance Levi isn’t back by mid-week and Luukkonen gets a chance to start after just shutting out the Colorado Avalanche. The 24-year-old has a chip on his shoulder to prove he can start and be a top-two option for the Sabres this season while they have three goalies. If Levi does return this week, Luukkonen will, at the very least, start on Friday or Saturday and then get in games while Comrie is out of the equation for now.
Joel Hofer, St. Louis Blues
The St. Louis Blues have a clear number one in Jordan Binnington, but Joel Hofer is proving to be a solid backup. He has now only started 10 career games in the NHL, but this season he already has a .913 SV% and a shutout in just two starts. Binnington will get the majority of the games despite allowing eight goals in the past two games. Hofer is an option the Blues have to relieve pressure though. The Blues have done that exact thing in the past with Binnington.
Hofer might not be a great longer-term option in fantasy hockey, but the Blues do have a back-to-back this week. He’ll likely get the start in the second game against the Canadiens. It’s the easier matchup and could give a good start for your fantasy hockey team later in the week. Hofer is someone to keep an eye on throughout the year though even if you don’t pick him up as a stream this week. Binnington’s play has progressively gone downhill since entering the league. Hofer is a young option that has impressed in his pro career.
Don’t waste time taking advantage of these goalies to add this week. The longer you wait, the more of a chance someone you may want is grabbed ahead of you. While a couple of these goaltenders should get a start on the weekend, be sure to keep an eye on any other options throughout the week that may become solid options as well.
