NFL Training Camp Updates

Here are some of the biggest updates around the NFL from the week of July 29th – August 2nd:

Nick Chubb is still not fully healthy: Chubb’s knee still needs some healing. Although he has been doing some light workouts so far in training camp, Browns general manager Andrew Berry said Monday that Chubb has “a little way to go.” This could harm Chubb’s fantasy value as he may miss the first few games to start the season.

Josh Allen and Keon Coleman showing great chemistry so far: According to NFL rookie watch, Coleman has been making great plays and is already displaying chemistry with Josh Allen. With Diggs gone and Coleman drafted with the intention to replace him, he very well could start the season as the Bills’ WR1.

Romeo Doubs has been raising his stock: The Packers receiver reportedly had a “fantastic” spring and has been a standout performer so far during training camp. Last season, Doubs had 59 receptions for 674 yards and scored eight touchdowns. If the Packers’ offense takes another step forward this season behind quarterback Jordan Love, Doubs’ stats and fantasy value could improve drastically.

The Vikings will be patient with J.J. McCarthy: Sam Darnold is expected to start the season as the Vikings QB1. Minnesota head coach Kevin O’Connell said that they would exercise patience with the 21-year-old and slowly ease him into more first-team reps. McCarthy could be a solid waiver wire pickup later in the season.

Zamir White looks to be Raiders’ RB1: With Josh Jacobs now in Green Bay, White’s role in the Raiders’ offense will look similar to how he finished off last season. In the final four games of last season, White averaged 99.25 yards per game. Although this is a small sample size, there is value and potential if you can snag him as your RB3.

Emari Demercado batting to become Cardinals’ RB2: According to Tyler Drake of Arizona Sports, Demercado has continued to impress coaches and has been subbing in for James Connor in first-team reps. His fantasy value could be similar to last year’s, where he’ll absorb more carries and points if Connor gets hurt.

Devin Singletary is primed for a huge workload this season: Apart from Singletary, the New York Giants running backs have only combined for 18 carries in the NFL. From weeks 10-18 last year as a starter in Houston, Singletary averaged 76.6 yards on the ground, 16.8 receiving yards, and scored eight touchdowns. Expect him to be a good volume back in 2024.

Ricky Pearsall participating in practice: Pearsall, who was placed on the NFI list last week with a minor hamstring injury, has been practicing with the team since Monday. The 31st overall pick from the 2024 draft has a high upside as a late-round fantasy pick, especially if Brandon Aiyuk is traded.
