Orlando Arcia – SS Atlanta Braves
Orlando Arcia said he doesn’t expect to hit the IL. Brian Snitker said they’d keep evaluating Arcia in the coming days, including seeing how he feels on Friday (after Thursday’s off day).
— Justin Toscano (@JustinCToscano) April 13, 2023
Arcia injured himself after taking a pitch on the wrist. There were tests done, but they came back negative for a fracture. Time will tell if he needs to go on the Injured List.
Kyle Bradish – SP Baltimore Orioles
Kyle Bradish is expected to start Friday in Bowie. #orioles hoping 4-5 innings
— Roch Kubatko (@masnRoch) April 11, 2023
Bradish has been setback-free since injuring his foot. He can return on April 19 at the earliest.
Anthony Santander – OF Baltimore Orioles
#Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said outfielder Anthony Santander is dealing with a sore back, but it's "not a huge deal." Hyde added Santander could be available off the bench tonight.
— Jake Rill (@JakeDRill) April 12, 2023
This doesn’t seem like something to worry about for Santander, but it’s something to monitor nonetheless.
Brayan Bello – SP Boston Red Sox
Cora was unsure if Bello will make his next start in the majors. "Now it's just seeing how he bounces back."
— Chris Cotillo (@ChrisCotillo) April 12, 2023
The most important thing with Bello’s recovery from an early season injury has been how his body bounces back. Since the beginning, he’s responded well to whatever hurdle he’s had to overcome. While the likeliest outcome is his debuting in his next outing, one can’t rule out the possibility that he’ll throw another start in the minors.
Masataka Yoshida – OF Boston Red Sox
Alex Cora thinks that Yoshida will probably miss Thursday's series finale also and return to the lineup on Friday night at Fenway.
— Ian Browne (@IanMBrowne) April 12, 2023
The team is playing it safe here with Yoshida, so he’ll likely miss today’s game. There will be more updates available later today.
Dansby Swanson – SS Chicago Cubs
Dansby Swanson said he expects to be back in Cubs’ lineup on Friday. Day game after night game, plus off-day Thursday, felt it was smart thing to do to take the day today.
— Jordan Bastian (@MLBastian) April 12, 2023
With the team having a day off today, Swanson will have two days to recover from Tuesday’s early exit. He is DTD for now, with the likelihood of returning Friday looking almost certain.
Randal Grichuk – OF Colorado Rockies
Great news that he is feeling great and moving well. It has also been noted that Grichuk is about two or three weeks away from returning to the team. Essentially he could be ready by the beginning of May.
German Marquez -SP Colorado Rockies
Bud Black says he doesn't think Marquez will need more than the 15-day IL stint. Just needs to rest his arm.
— Manny Randhawa (@MannyOnMLB) April 12, 2023
Resting the muscles in the injured arm is all that’s apparently what’s needed for Marquez. Owners everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief for now while we see how that rest works out for him.
Michael Lorenzen – SP Detroit Tigers
There's another domino to this move. RHP Michael Lorenzen will be activated this weekend and join the rotation. A position player will likely be sent out to facilitate his re-entry https://t.co/F79JSstvp5 via @detroitnews
— Chris McCosky (@cmccosky) April 12, 2023
Be prepared.
Miguel Rojas – SS Los Angeles Dodgers
Miguel Rojas left tonight's game with a left hamstring cramp.
— Los Angeles Dodgers (@Dodgers) April 13, 2023
Rojas just returned from a groin injury, and now this happened. Consider him DTD until otherwise noted.
Avisail Garcia – OF Miami Marlins, Garrett Cooper – 1B Miami Marlins
#Marlins lineup for series finale vs Phillies. No Cooper (upper left leg) and Avisail Garcia (left hamstring). Soler at DH. Gurriel gets another start at first. De La Cruz and Sanchez in corner outfield spots. Stallings catching Cabrera. pic.twitter.com/4zcMyX6eCs
— Jordan McPherson (@J_McPherson1126) April 12, 2023
Two notable omissions from yesterday’s lineup. Garcia hasn’t played all week, and the Marlins have today off. Look for a return or an Injury List designation by tomorrow’s game. As for Cooper, he exited Tuesday’s game early and will benefit from this off-day too. Expect a decision before tomorrow’s game on him also.
Byron Buxton – OF Minnesota Twins
Byron Buxton had an abrasion on his forehead, but was in good spirits. Upbeat. Of his collision with Lenyn Sosa, he was asked what body parts hit the ground. #MNTwins pic.twitter.com/DbFpr2QSah
— DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) April 12, 2023
Buxton will be examined today to ensure that all is well. It was also noted that he wouldn’t have gone back into the game had his turn come up in the lineup. A very unlucky injury here that hopefully won’t require much time off.
Kyle Farmer – SS Minnesota Twins
Kyle Farmer had successful surgery on his lower lip & bottom 4 teeth at Regions Hospital with Dr. Dave Hamlar.
Dr. Hamlar was able to suture the lacerations to his lower lip & reset his bottom teeth w/ minimal hardware necessary to maintain the integrity of the teeth. #MNTwins
— Dustin Morse (@morsecode) April 13, 2023
Farmer got HBP in the mouth and stayed down in agony for quite a while. He avoided anything considerably major, as there were no fractures anywhere. While none of this is considered lucky, he is fortunate that it wasn’t any worse than it was. Wishing him all the best for a speedy recovery.
Carlos Correa – SS Minnesota Twins
Rocco Baldelli suspects that Carlos Correa will be in the lineup at Yankee Stadium tomorrow. He's going to go through an intense day in the batting cage as a final test. Worked out yesterday, too. #MNTwins
— DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) April 12, 2023
Great news in that it seems like Correa will be able to return. The team will need him, given the rash of injuries sustained recently. Stay tuned.
Joey Gallo – 1B/OF Minneosta Twins
Joey Gallo feels good. He’s headed to Indianapolis to get at-bats at Triple A before rejoining the #MNTwins.
— DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) April 12, 2023
Great to see that Gallo is already going to begin a rehab assignment. Expect his stay on the Injured List to be minimal.
Edwin Diaz – RP New York Mets
Edwin Díaz: “If everything goes well, I think I can be back quicker than eight months…. I might throw this year.”
— Tim Britton (@TimBritton) April 12, 2023
The optimism is admired, but everything has to go right, and then some, for him to return and pitch effectively. It also means that the team has to make it to October, which is by no means a guarantee.
DJ LeMahieu – INF New York Mets
DJ LeMahieu dealing with quad tightness, day to day right now, per Aaron Boone #Yankees
— Brendan Kuty (@BrendanKutyNJ) April 12, 2023
Consider LeMahieu DTD until otherwise noted. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will likely take his place, as he did on Wednesday.
Bryce Harper – DH Philadelphia Phillies
News: Bryce Harper is going to learn first base. He went to the Phillies with the idea earlier this month. It won’t change his timeline for returning as a DH. But it might get him back in the field sooner this season. The details: https://t.co/GsL3ih0MiC
— Matt Gelb (@MattGelb) April 13, 2023
Interesting idea that just might pay off. As it states here though, this doesn’t change Harper’s timeline for a return to at-bats as the team’s DH.
Darick Hall – 1B Philadelphia Phillies
Darick Hall underwent successful right thumb ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) repair with augmentation surgery with Dr. Pedro Beredjiklian in Philadelphia, Pa., this morning. Timetable for return is approximately two months.
— Philadelphia Phillies (@Phillies) April 12, 2023
Great news as Hall is wished well for a speedy recovery.
Ranger Suarez – SP Philadelphia Phillies
Ranger Suarez will extend himself more in another bullpen session Friday in Cincinnati. He threw 35 pitches in yesterday's. Phillies shooting for early next week for him to throw BP, then next step would be a rehab assignment if things continue to trend in the right direction.
— Corey Seidman (@CSeidmanNBCS) April 12, 2023
Slowly, but surely, he is getting better. There was some speculation about going right to a rehab assignment, but the team is convinced that a much slower pace is what’s best.
JT Brubaker – SP Pittsburgh Pirates
RHP JT Brubaker underwent right elbow surgery by Dr. Keith Meister today to reconstruct the ulnar collateral ligament (UCL).
His projected full return to Major League competition is 14-16 months.
— Pittsburgh Pirates (@Pirates) April 12, 2023
A disappointing end to a promising start, Brubaker won’t be a fantasy option until 2025.
Joe Musgrove – SP San Diego Padres
This is a much-improved update after reading that he fell while fielding a ball in his last rehab outing. If Musgrove does in fact start again on Friday, it shouldn’t be long afterward that he can debut with the Padres.
Michael Conforto – OF San Francisco Giants
Giants say Michael Conforto has left calf tightness. Bryce Johnson is being evaluated for a concussion.
— Alex Pavlovic (@PavlovicNBCS) April 13, 2023
The hope is that Conforto won’t miss much time with this injury. The team has enough injury concerns as is.
Lars Nootbaar – OF St. Louis Cardinals
Lars Nootbaar continues to make progress and could head out on a rehab assignment soon. #STLCards pic.twitter.com/4U57UOSu0p
— Bally Sports Midwest (@BallySportsMW) April 12, 2023
Nootbaar will get a rehab assignment after all, as there was speculation that he’d be back without one. No word on how long this will be, but he seems primed to be back in the Cardinals’ lineup in less than a week.
Corey Seager – SS Texas Rangers
Simply horrible news here, as Seager had a terrific start to the season. He will miss at least one month due to this injury, but there’s no guarantee that it won’t be more than this. He’ll need to be re-evaluated before anything and a lengthy rehab assignment seems to be in the cards. Josh Smith is the beneficiary of this injury in Seager’s absence.
