Fantrax Injury Report: April 3, 2023 – Great news for Bryce Harper

Here is the Fantrax Injury Report for Monday, April 2, 2023.

MLB Injury Report for April 3

Madison Bumgarner – SP Arizona Diamondbacks

Bumgarner is in line to start this Friday against the same Los Angeles team he faced in his opener. That will depend on the results of the tests that he is feeling. Needless to say, arm fatigue this early is not a good sign.

Trevor Story – 2B/SS Boston Red Sox

If Story is able to maintain this timeline of throwing and hitting, then it’s looking likely that he will be back sometime in August. All that said, it’s too early to speculate specific times. For now, just knowing that he is under the right mindset and is working hard is enough to know that he’s all but certain to play in 2023.

James Paxton – SP Boston Red Sox, Brayan Bello – SP Boston Red Sox, Garrett Whitlock – SP Boston Red Sox

Here’s the schedule for the rehabbing pitchers in Boston. This is likely Whitlock’s last rehab start before joining the Red Sox. Bello will likely need at least one more after this one, while Paxton will need a few more.

Nick Senzel – INF/OF Cincinatti Reds

Senzel is rumored to work in a utility role upon his return to the Reds. As such, he’s likely to see many different positions during his rehabbing time.

Michael Brantley – OF Houston Astros

No word yet on if he will need a rehab assignment. However, given the seriousness of his injury, all signs point to yes.

Devin Williams – RP Milwaukee Brewers

Great news regarding his availability and that there is likely minimal residual damage after the comebacker. Other than general soreness and a bruise, Williams looks ready to roll as the team’s closer.

Luis Severino – SP New York Yankees

It’s good news that Severino is throwing, but he is still a ways away from returning.

Carlos Rodon – SP New York Yankees

This is another step forward for Rodon, who could return within the next month. He’s yet to face live hitters, which is something he’ll need to do. Furthermore, he will need a rehab session in order to maintain his health.

Bryce Harper – OF Philadelphia Phillies

That’s fantastic news, but before anyone gets ahead of themselves, they need to remember it’s a progressive process. It’s all about how his body responds to each step along the way. Additionally, each step requires multiple times for him to actually perform each activity. That said, it’s encouraging nonetheless to hear that he’s doing really well.

J.T. Brubaker – SP Pittsbirgh Pirates

Brubaker is potentially a candidate for season-ending surgery on his elbow. Nothing has yet to be solidified, but he’s not going to pitch for a while. It’s a shame after his hot and promising spring.

Joey Bart – C San Francsico Giants

There is no indication that this is a long-term problem. In fact, some reports have this as a minimum stay on the Injured List. Updates will surely follow.

Brandon Lowe – 2B Tampa Bay Rays

It was a scheduled day off yesterday, and still, Lowe made it into the game to pinch hit. He looks fine and will likely play today.
