Consider Renfroe DTD with tightness in his hamstring.
Shohei Ohtani – SP/UT Los Angeles Angels
Shohei Ohtani has a tiny bit of inflammation in his oblique, but it’s not an “injury thing,” Phil’s Nevin said. “I think we dodged a bullet as far as injury goes,” Nevin said.
— Sarah Valenzuela (@Sarah_IsabelVee) September 6, 2023
For now, Ohtani remains DTD with oblique tightness. Given the status of his health with regard to his arm, and the fact that the team is out of contention, the Angels would be wise to take it easy on him physically with regard to workload. That being said, the team has seemingly avoided anything major with this oblique. Fingers crossed that he can get this under control and possibly back into the Angels’ lineup.
Mike Trout – OF Los Angeles Angels
Finally some good news for Trout and the Angels. With no structural damage done, this leaves the door open for a possible return. While it would be useless to rush him back, seeing him play again could offer him some peace of mind for the offseason. It would give him and the team something with which to build. Stay tuned.
Walker Buehler – SP Los Angeles Dodgers
Per #Dodgers Dave Roberts, Walker Buehler will make his next rehab start for OKC Friday. Urias situation will have no effect on plan for Buehler, Roberts said
— Bill Plunkett (@billplunkettocr) September 5, 2023
This start, alongside at least one more, might be enough for Buehler to return to the team. He will need to stretch out more than his previous outing of 24 pitches, however, in order to have any impact fantasy-wise.
Max Muncy – 3B Los Angeles Dodgers
Max Muncy is not in the Dodgers lineup tonight, but said his shoulder is feeling better. He took swings today and came out of it feeling alright. He hasn’t gotten any scans
— Jack Harris (@ByJackHarris) September 5, 2023
Muncy could be back by the end of the week if things progress the way that they are. He himself didn’t believe that his shoulder issues were serious. That said, the Dodgers will need him healthy come playoff time, so they would be wise to take their time with him.
Adrian Houser – SP Milwaukee Brewers
Houser’s absence isn’t expected to last much longer than the fifteen-day minimum.
Byron Buxton – UT Minnesota Twins
Byron Buxton has officially been pulled back off his rehab assignment for now. Team said he wasn't traveling with Triple-A St. Paul as he worked to treat his sore knee after the early exit from Friday's rehab game. #MNTwins
— DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) September 5, 2023
While Buxton’s return to the Twins this season hasn’t yet been ruled out, this is a scary situation. There is no word on how long he will be pulled from this assignment, but time is running out on him as there are approximately three weeks left in the regular season and half of that left in the Minor League season.
Edwin Diaz – RP New York Mets
Edwin Díaz (recovery from knee surgery) is with the Mets in Washington and tentatively scheduled to travel with them the rest of the way. He has two bullpens scheduled this road trip, and the Mets want him to throw those in front of Jeremy Hefner and the training staff.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) September 5, 2023
This is fantastic news, and the best is wished for Diaz as he attempts to return this year.
DJ Stewart – OF New York Mets
Low back tightness. https://t.co/KJGHUndtHV
— Britt Ghiroli (@Britt_Ghiroli) September 5, 2023
Stewart had a mini-breakout for the Mets, so this is a disappointing development. Consider him DTD for now.
Carlos Carrasco – SP New York Mets
On Sunday, Carlos Carrasco suffered a fracture of his right fifth finger, recovery time is typically 4-6 weeks, say the Mets
This likely means his season is over
— Pat Ragazzo (@ragazzoreport) September 5, 2023
Carrasco will finish his 2023 season on a low note, which is saying something considering his incredibly high ERA.
Anthony Rizzo – 1B New York Yankees
Anthony Rizzo will be shut down for the season, Aaron Boone said. He is continuing to make cognitive improvements but they are running out of time to bring him back this year.
— Bryan Hoch ⚾️ (@BryanHoch) September 5, 2023
The absolute best is wished for Rizzo this offseason as he tries to get himself right.
Trea Turner – SS Philadelphia Phillies
Prior to tonight’s game against the San Diego Padres, the Phillies placed SS Trea Turner on the paternity list. To fill his spot on the 28-man roster, the club recalled INF/OF Weston Wilson from Lehigh Valley (AAA).
— Philadelphia Phillies (@Phillies) September 5, 2023
Congratulations to the Turner family.
Oneil Cruz – SS Pittsburgh Pirates
GMBC says Oneil Cruz is expected to re-start his running progression this week
— Andrew Destin (@AndrewDestin1) September 5, 2023
Time is running out on a return from Cruz this year. That said, the main focus should be to prepare him for a healthy 2024 season.
Michael Conforto – OF San Francisco Giants
Michael Conforto shared an encouraging update. He took on-field BP today (off Stripling), is running close to 85% strength and is feeling very good about his hamstring recovery. If Giants remain in race, he could be valuable addition at some point in September.
— John Shea (@JohnSheaHey) September 5, 2023
This is great news for Conforto and fantasy owners. That said, it looks like we will have to look at the standings if there is any hope of seeing him play again this year.
Lane Thomas – OF Washington Nationals
It’s a scheduled day off for Abrams, who Davey noted admitted he needs one. Thomas is still dealing with a bad back, got an MRI today, results still pending.
— Mark Zuckerman (@MarkZuckerman) September 5, 2023
The results from that MRI will determine how long Thomas will miss. For now, consider him DTD, but that could change later today.
