MLB Injury Report
Max Fried – SP Atlanta Braves
Max Fried continues to take steps in the right direction.@laurenjbara has the report 🗒️ pic.twitter.com/BdLJUaBYDv
— Bally Sports South (@BallySportsSO) June 27, 2023
As stated in the video, Fried threw another BP yesterday. He’s slated to continue to do this, alongside some live hitters, some live BP, and then a rehab assignment. She mentioned that the team expects him back after the All-Star Break.
John Means – SP Baltimore Orioles
Happy Tuesday from #BirdlandSouth.
The #orioles pitchers against Atlanta will be Junior Piña, Zack Showalter, Raul Rangel & #47 John Means. He’s on the way back fans👊🏻 pic.twitter.com/BLX6hnt4vq— Eric_Birdland (@Eric_Birdland) May 23, 2023
Means was shut down due to a muscle strain in his upper back about a month ago. Now, he is back on the field throwing and will continue to work toward returning before the season concludes. He himself said that August is a goal for him.
Kris Bryant – OF Colorado Rockies
Four-time All-Star, 2015 Rookie of the Year, 2016 NL MVP, AND 2016 World Series Champion @KrisBryant_23 is scheduled to start a rehab assignment in ABQ this Wednesday!

This is great news, as we should see Bryant back before the All-Star Break if things work out the way we all hope they will.
Matthew Boyd – SP Detroit Tigers
Boyd felt discomfort in his elbow and removed himself from the game. There will be additional testing done in order to determine the severity of the situation. Nobody wants to come to a conclusion too soon, but this is obviously a bad situation for him and for the team. Consider him DTD until we know more, but don’t be surprised if this warrants a trip to the Injured List.
Riley Greene – OF Detroit Tigers, Akil Baddoo – OF Detroit Tigers
AJ Hinch didn't say that Greene and Baddoo were close to rehab assignments directly, but he did say, "They might not be on this road trip the entire time." Which I'm taking to mean they will head off to Toledo maybe by this weekend. They have intensified their daily workouts
— Chris McCosky (@cmccosky) June 26, 2023
That’s great news for both players. We’ll see how long either or both stay with the team before heading out to Toledo for those rehab assignments.
Detroit Tigers – Rotation Rehab Update
Faedo will throw rehab start for West Michigan Tuesday. Skubal rehab start for Toledo Wednesday. E-Rod for Toledo Thursday
— Chris McCosky (@cmccosky) June 26, 2023
This will be the first of many rehab starts for Faedo and Rodriguez. They both suffered different finger injuries and will be on different trajectories back to Detroit. As for Skubal, he’s already thrown multiple times in many outings and this could be the final one before his return.
Matt Manning – SP Detroit Tigers
Matt Manning will start for Tigers tomorrow
— Chris McCosky (@cmccosky) June 26, 2023
This message was sent yesterday regarding today. Be prepared.
Mickey Moniak – OF Los Angeles Angels
Nevin said Moniak’s hip has been bothering him since he tripped in Colorado. Nevin said he took him out because he’s not currently moving as well defensively, and he didn’t think he’d get to bat again. #Angels
— Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) June 27, 2023
The issue has been bothering Moniak since a game in Colorado. It happened as he was running the bases on Saturday. All that being said, it’s been noted by Nevin that he should play later today. It’s a mobility issue for him and nothing more.
Zach Neto – SS Los Angeles Angels
Zach Neto said he has no more pain or discomfort. Just some normal workout soreness. No baseball activity yet. He said his goal is to play light catch on Friday. No timetable for a return to the lineup.
— Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) June 26, 2023
Looks like Neto will be back in the lineup soon enough. He’s already past his ten-day minimum, so he can return anytime.
Eduardo Escobar – INF Los Angeles Angels
Escobar is on the restricted list today to take his citizenship test. He’s taking it tomorrow in Florida. He could be back Wednesday.
— Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) June 26, 2023
Wishing Escobar the best in the next chapter of his life.
Ben Joyce – RP Los Angeles Angels
Ben Joyce is going to play catch today. It’s his first time throwing since he went on the IL. He has no symptoms.
— Jeff Fletcher (@JeffFletcherOCR) June 26, 2023
It’s time to re-joyce that he is symptom-free and likely ramping up to get back into action.
Trevor Rogers – SP Miami Marlins
"Trevor Rogers’ right lat strain is actually a partial tear," Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports 🤕
No surgery needed, but he's many weeks away from a return to the Marlins rotation.https://t.co/tRJs9aAP05 pic.twitter.com/QSE0yq5MXH
— Fish On First (@FishOnFirst) June 24, 2023
It’s never a good thing when you’re told that your injury is a one-of-a-kind ailment. Unfortunately for everyone, Rogers will miss the next two weeks and is likely out for much longer than that. While he has been doing lower-body workouts and minimal upper-body workouts to keep fresh, he will need to ramp things up after a very long delay. His rehab assignment will likely be lengthy too, making Rogers a candidate to return sometime in August.
Jorge Polanco – 2B Minnesota Twins
Jorge Polanco has started doing some baseball activities, Nick Paparesta said. He's hitting in the cage and taking ground balls. He's in the midst of a running progression, as well.
— Betsy Helfand (@betsyhelfand) June 26, 2023
There has been talk about Polanco starting a rehab assignment soon too, but nothing concrete. Either way, it’s still good news that he’s progressing and working toward a return.
Jose Quintana – SP New York Mets
Looks like Quintana could be back before the All-Star Break. Be prepared.
