Fantrax MLB Injury Report: Ronald Acuña Jr. -X-Rays Reveal…

Here is the Fantrax Injury Report for Wednesday, August 9, 2023. In today’s edition, Ronald Acuna got hit by a pitch yesterday, but it turns out things will be okay for him. Also, Cedric Mullins seems to be close to a return, which is great news for the Orioles. Finally, Mike Trout continues to progress, albeit slowly, and shouldn’t need long to ramp himself up. All that and much more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.

MLB Injury Report

Gabriel Moreno – C Arizona Diamondbacks

Moreno has been out of action for quite some time but looks to be back soon. If all goes well here physically, we could see a return soon enough.

Ronald Acuna – OF Atlanta Braves

This comes with a collective sigh of relief, as there was some concern for Acuna’s elbow. While these X-rays eliminate the chance of any structural damage done, it’s still possible that he misses a game or two while the elbow heals.

Ramon Urias – INF Baltimore Orioles

Consider Urias DTD until we get more information.

John Means – SP Baltimore Orioles

This is great news, as Means had been progressing in his bullpen sessions. He had Tommy John Surgery early in the season last year and was trending toward a late summer return.

Baltimore Orioles – Team Update

Frazier did enter the game off the bench against the Blue Jays, so he looks ready to return to the starting lineup soon enough. As for Mullins, he may only need another day or two before being back with the Orioles. Finally, Hicks seems to be about one week behind Mullins in his progression.

Justin Turner – INF Boston Red Sox

Turner continues to miss time due to soreness on his heel that won’t go away. That said, he isn’t expected to go to the Injured List, so his status remains DTD.

Yasmani Grandal – C Chicago White Sox

Consider Grandal DTD until we hear more news later today.

Brendan Rodgers – 2B Colorado Rockies

This injury seems to be more of a DTD sort of thing than an Injury List designation. Stay tuned for updates, but this doesn’t seem to be a long-standing issue.

Zack Greinke – SP Kansas City Royals

Greinke will miss two weeks with an elbow injury but is expected back before the season ends.

Zach Neto – SS Los Angeles Angels

Neto has had on-and-off back pains for the better part of the past month. It looks like he will miss most, if not all, of August, recovering from this ailment.

Mike Trout – OF Los Angeles Angels

Trout continues to slowly get better and progress in his abilities. The encouraging part here is that it’s believed that his ramp-up shouldn’t take too long. What that means as a timeline is unknown, but it is something to note.

Logan O’Hoppe – C Los Angeles Angels

While this is great news as O’Hoppe enters the final stage of his recovery, it’s important to note that it’s been said he’ll need close to the 20-day allotted maximum amount of time before coming back. So essentially he has almost three weeks before returning.

J.D. Martinez – UT Los Angeles Dodgers

Martinez missed three games of action last week and it was believed, at the time, that he would require a trip to the Injured List. Then, things started to feel better and he was able to play over the weekend. Now that the injury has resurfaced, it’s unclear what the next steps will be for him from the team. Stay tuned.

Carlos Santana – 1B Milwaukee Brewers

Consider Santana DTD while he gets himself better.

Max Kepler – OF Minnesota Twins

Kepler was hit by a pitch on Monday, and we now know the details of the injury. Consider him DTD while the toes get better, but he may need another day or two.

Starling Marte – OF New York Mets

Marte is hopeful to return to light activity, which could lead to more intensified activities afterward. There’s no timetable for a return, and given the uncompetitive nature of the Mets, they are likely in no rush for him to return either.

Carlos Rodon – SP New York Yankees

Rodon felt like he would be able to pitch through this injury, so his throwing on flat ground shouldn’t be too surprising. It looks like it will be a short-term stay on the Injured List, for now.

Bryan Woo – SP Seattle Mariners

Woo was placed on the Injured List yesterday with right forearm inflammation, but this report makes it seem more precautionary than anything. While it’s possible that this is an attempt to limit his innings, it’s still even more possible that there is an issue worth monitoring here.

Tyler O’Neill – OF St. Louis Cardinals

O’Neill took part in the pre-game workout, but the decision was made to bench him. Consider him DTD until we know more about the situation.

Tyler Glasnow – SP Tampa Bay Rays

The news here is somewhat promising but does come with a lot of hope. The Rays are decimated with injuries and need Glasnow if they have any postseason aspirations. Consider him DTD for now, but there is a chance that he heads to the Injured List, albeit with a shortened retroactive date.

Shane McClanahan – SP Tampa Bay Rays

McClanahan has seen many doctors and specialists, and there haven’t been many details released yet on their meetings. Manager Kevin Cash said that surgery is an option for him, but didn’t specify what exactly it would be. This is all quite ominous for one of the best pitchers in baseball and arguably the biggest piece of the Rays’ postseason hopes.

Jordan Romano – RP Toronto Blue Jays

Romano continues to progress well and could be back soon enough. Stay tuned on whether or not he will need that rehab assignment first.
