MLB Prospects Injury Report

Druw Jones – OF Arizona Diamondbacks

Jones has had a busy two weeks since the last report. First, he was transferred over from the 7-day Injured List to the 60-day Injured List for his hamstring injury. Then, as mentioned above, he started a rehab assignment in the Arizona Complex League in order to get himself right. Since then, he has gone 2-for-9 with no extra-base hits, one walk, and three strikeouts. Once he finishes this rehab assignment, he will likely go back to Single-A Visalia to continue his already shortened progress. Jones is baseball’s 12th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Marcelo Mayer – SS Boston Red Sox

Mayer had recently completed a 1-for-21 stretch where he struck out twelve times. There’s no indication his struggles were shoulder related or that he was having a tough time adjusting to his promotion to Double-A, where the results have been underwhelming. Mayer is baseball’s 3rd-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Logan O’Hoppe – C Los Angeles Angels

O’Hoppe had recently begun swinging and hitting with contact on the ball. After advancing to live batting practice a week ago, there was speculation that he would begin a rehab assignment this week. This all but confirms it, and he will start later this week. As it states, he will need close to, if not all, of the twenty days allotted for any rehabbing player to be ready. O’Hoppe is baseball’s 27th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Jeferson Quero – C Milwaukee Brewers

Quero was placed on the 7-day Injured List retroactive to July 23 with thumb soreness. He injured it during an at-bat and the team had some concern because it was his catching hand. That said, it turns out the injury wasn’t as bad as it could have been, and he should be fine in the long run. Quero is baseball’s 68th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Ricky Tiedemann – SP Toronto Blue Jays

Tiedemann had his rehab shifted to Single-A Dunedin, and he has delivered some big performances. In his first game, he struck out six batters over three innings and his fastball averaged just under 96 mph. In the outing listed above, he seemed to be even better, with an uptick in velocity and a ton of swinging strikes. He seems all but healthy and ready to get back to showing why he’s one of the best prospects in the game. Tiedemann is baseball’s 29th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Cade Cavalli – SP Washington Nationals

Cavalli recently regained the motion in his arm, which is a great first step in his recovery. Since then, he’s been exercising and keeping in shape through bicep curls, bench presses, and anything else that he can do in order to get strength and muscle back. The biggest takeaway from this, however, is that he is on track and progressing as well as he should be for the timeline. Keep in mind that he won’t be back on the mound until next season, but is still a major part of the organization’s rebuild process. Cavalli is baseball’s 70th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.

Elijah Green – OF Washington Nationals

Green last played at the end of June as he has been hampered by a wrist injury for quite a while. He has not performed well all season with his elevated promotion to Single-A, and June was seemingly the boiling point of those struggles. In June, he batted .136 with one home run and 34 strikeouts over 66 at-bats. There was no confirmation that those struggles were wrist-related, but they seem to coincide with the news report and timeline of his season. Green is baseball’s 74th-ranked prospect, according to MLB.
