IDP Stock Market: Week 11

It’s Week 11 and the fantasy playoffs are almost here. By now you know your team’s biggest needs and glaring weaknesses. Whether you are a contender or a pretender I have something for everyone. Each week I bring you the IDP stock market, where I help you navigate which stocks to invest in and which to liquidate. Let’s get right into it with three investments and three liquidations to help you keep your IDP portfolios providing big returns.

IDP Stock Market Investments

DJ Wonnum, DE, Carolina Panthers

My first IDP Stock Market investment, DE DJ Wonnum of the Carolina Panthers, is going to be one of the hottest IDP waiver additions of the week. After spending his four seasons in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings he signed with the Carolina Panthers this off-season. Wonnum made his official debut with the Panthers last week after he missed the first nine games of this season with a torn quad he suffered in Week 16 of last season. While Carolina could have definitely used Wonnum, it was worth the wait to have him fully healthy. In his first game with the Panthers, he started the game, and played 50 defensive snaps (67%) while recording six total tackles, four being solo stops, 66.6% solo rate, two TFLs, two QB hits, one sack, and one forced fumble. That’s a huge game for a player who hadn’t been on the field since last December. If you need EDGE help run now and grab him up.

Fantrax Rostership: 37%

Jack Gibbens, LB, Tennessee Titans

The linebacker market has been a crazy one and trying to get a full grasp of it has been impossible to say the least. For my next IDP Stock Market investment I have a linebacker, Jack Gibbens of the Tennessee Titans, who should be rostered in all IDP formats. Gibbens started 13 games for the Mike Vrabel led Titans, but the new regime led by Brian Callahan didn’t see him as a starter. With that Gibbens was regulated back to special teams but with all the issues with and musical chairs at linebacker, Dr Gibby found himself back in a starting role in Week 7. Since that start he’s been as hot as anyone in IDP! In three games since being reinstated as a starter, he’s played 176 defensive snaps (100%) and registered 37 total tackles (12.3 per game), with 18 being solo stops. Volume is king and Gibbens is getting the volume and producing a high return for those who have invested in him.

Fantrax Rostership: 57%

Malik Mustapha, SAF, San Francisco 49ers

If the waiver wire is barren in your fantasy leagues and you desperately need help at the safety position, then my last IDP Stock Market investment for the week is one that you might want to look into. Three weeks ago rookie safety Malik Mustapha had a breakout performance (12 Tackles) for the San Francisco 49ers vs the Kansas City Chiefs. With Talanoa Hufunga unavailable, Mustapha has seized a huge opportunity. Over the past three weeks, he has started all three games, played every single defensive snap (193), and accumulated 24 total tackles (8 per game). There are a lot of high-profile starters in the league who are not putting up those tackle numbers. As long as Hufunga is out and maybe even when he comes back, Mustapha’s value is just going to continue to rise. I am trying to grab all the shares of Mustapha that I can, as should you, and your IDP portfolios will be better for it.

Fantrax Rostership: 22%

IDP Stock Market Liquidations

Matt Judon, DE, Atlanta Falcons

For my first IDP stock market liquidation of the week, I have to ask the question of whether it is time to sell shares of Matt Judon of the Atlanta Falcons. How dare I suggest moving on from such a high-profile name such as Judon, but it’s warranted. In ten games played this season with a 60% snap share (his lowest since his rookie season), he only has 1½ sacks, three QB hits, and two TFLs. Those are horrible numbers for any player, but especially one who finished 9th in Defensive Player of the Year just two seasons ago. Judon missed all but four games last season and had better numbers in those four games than he has overall this year. I have to wonder if the Patriots saw something and maybe that’s why they parted ways with Judon. Long story short, the production just isn’t there and in the world of fantasy football that’s what it’s based on. I hate to outright cut a star player, but if you can’t work him into a trade then you have to liquidate Judon shares from your IDP portfolios.

Fantrax Liquidation Rate: 2%

Mack Wilson, LB, Arizona Cardinals

My next IDP Stock Market liquidation, LB Mack Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals is one that I have very few shares of, if any at all. Over the last four games, fantasy managers have seen Wilson’s production trend in a steep decline. Wilson’s been almost non-existent in the last four games after tallying 40 total tackles (6.6 per game) through the first six games with 11 total tackles (2.75 per game). That may not seem like a lot but depending on your league’s scoring, that’s close to eight points a game fantasy managers are losing. He’s still receiving the same snap share as he has all year so that’s not the issue, it’s just that he is not producing. The linebacker position is a deep one so finding a replacement shouldn’t be too difficult to find. Fantrax Liquidation Rate: 10%

Vonn Bell, SAF, Cincinnati Bengals

My last IDP stock market liquidation, safety Vonn Bell of the Cincinnati Bengals, has played eight seasons in the NFL but there is starting to be a noticeable decline from his earlier years. The good thing is that it has been a gradual decline and not the sudden drop off a cliff type. He’s as smart and tough as ever but you can see that he’s lost a step. Through ten games played this season Bell is averaging just 4.6 tackles per game, which is on pace to be the worst of his career. Also, the big plays are seeing a decline as well. I completely understand if you want or need to hold onto him, but just know the signs are there that it’s time to sell. Fantrax Liquidation Rate: 12%
