Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report. Inside, you’ll see the latest on Spencer Strider’s elbow, Trevor Story’s shoulder, and Luis Robert’s hip. All that and more in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.
MLB Injury Report for Saturday, April 6, 2024
Spencer Strider – SP Atlanta Braves
Spencer Strider's elbow was bothering him and he will be getting an MRI tomorrow (via @mlbbowman).
He averaged 96.7 MPH with his fastball in his first start but all of his last 31 fastballs tonight were slower than that.

This was the biggest injury news of the night, yet the one with the least amount of information presented to us. All that we know is that Strider complained about his elbow bothering him, his velocity and spin rates were down, and he got rocked on the field as a result. We won’t know more about this situation until the results of his MRI have been revealed. It’s important to note too that the average velocity of his fastball was even lower in his first game in comparison to where it was last year. Until we know more, all we can do is speculate and worry.
Brandon Nimmo – OF New York Mets
Brandon Nimmo is dealing with some minor hamstring tightness, which is why he's out of the lineup today. The Mets do not consider it a major issue. He "checked out pretty good" in internal testing, per Carlos Mendoza.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) April 5, 2024
Nimmo has been slow to start the season at the plate, as he has just one hit thus far. It’s unclear if this is something that has been bothering him for a while, though he did just steal a base on Thursday. The hope is that he will avoid the Injured List and get back on the field by the end of the weekend.
Nick Lodolo – SP Cincinnati Reds
Nick Lodolo will make his final rehab start on Sunday now. He’s set to return now on April 12.
— Charlie Goldsmith (@CharlieG__) April 5, 2024
This is a scheduling setback, and nothing more. The original timeline for a debut was April 10, however now he will aim to pitch two days later. He is in the final stages of his recovery process and is someone that fantasy owners should be ready to use in their lineups.
Geraldo Perdomo – SS Arizona Diamondbacks
Perdomo looked good but didn't feel good, Torey Lovullo said. Perdomo experienced enough discomfort that he likely is getting an MRI tomorrow.
— Nick Piecoro (@nickpiecoro) April 5, 2024
Perdomo injured himself on Wednesday and has yet to return. While he has progressed to doing some agility drills, the team is concerned enough to get to the root of the problem with an MRI. The results of this should determine whether or not a trip to the Injured List is needed.
Alex Cobb – SP San Francisco Giants
Alex Cobb felt a little elbow soreness while throwing recently, an MRI came back clean but he’ll shut it down for a few days. Giants are going to be very careful given their rotation depth, and Cobb said he’s still ahead of schedule from surgery overall.
— Alex Pavlovic (@PavlovicNBCS) April 5, 2024
The good news here is that Cobb’s MRI came back clean. That said, a mini-shutdown seems wise here. He is already well ahead of the original timeline for a debut, and there is no need to rush things even further. It’s not completely surprising that he had this setback, as his body has gone through so much, so quickly. That said, his return is the feel-good story of the league so far.
Trevor Story – SS Boston Red Sox
"Did something to the shoulder there. Pretty Painful. We didn't get images yet. So, we'll have that tomorrow."

Story landed awkwardly on his shoulder, putting all of his body weight onto himself. As he stated here, it was quite painful and he will undergo some testing to see the severity of the situation. He may wind up on the Injured List even if the testing comes back clean.
Luis Robert – OF Chicago White Sox

— Daryl Van Schouwen (@CST_soxvan) April 6, 2024
Robert was rounding first base and began limping his way toward second base in obvious pain. It was revealed after the game that he injured his hip flexor and that the team will get X-rays done later today. It’s important to note that he missed 98 days with a hip injury in 2021. Stay tuned.
Eloy Jiménez – UT Chicago White Sox

— Daryl Van Schouwen (@CST_soxvan) April 5, 2024
This, just 24 hours after manager Pedro Grifol said that Jiménez could have played in a game earlier in the week, describes the current state of the White Sox franchise. The good news is that this is retroactive to April 2, so if this is a minor injury, he can come back ten days after that day. The frustration of White Sox fans knows no bounds.
Nathaniel Lowe – 1B Texas Rangers
Nathaniel Lowe (oblique) took batting practice today as he moves closer to his 2024 debut. No timeline yet, but the week of April 15 seems reasonable. #Rangers
— Jeff Wilson (@JeffWilsonTXR) April 5, 2024
This was the next step forward for Lowe, who has a rough timeline set for his 2024 season debut. He will face live hitters in the next few days, which could mean that a rehab assignment is right around the corner. All of this is great news for Rangers fans and fantasy owners.
Ty France – 1B Seattle Mariners
Samad Taylor has joined the Mariners here in Milwaukee, on the taxi squad as a reinforcement, as Ty France is heading to the paternity list as he and his wife await the birth of their first child.

France will miss the weekend here as his family is expecting an addition. The absolute best is wished to the France household.
