Welcome to the Fantrax MLB Injury Report for Thursday, September 19, 2024. In today’s edition, Francisco Lindor remains out of the Mets lineup, but the plan is for him to return soon. Additionally, Kodai Senga might return to the Mets after all, though that won’t be determined until after the weekend. Finally, Bo Bichette surprisingly missed last night’s game after a pre-game injury. All that and so much more are in today’s Injury Report from Fantrax.
MLB Injury Report
Francisco Lindor – SS New York Mets (back)
Francisco Lindor (back) is out of the Mets' lineup for a third consecutive game tonight. "This is continuing to be day-to-day," Carlos Mendoza said. Sounds like Lindor doesn't have a super realistic chance to return tomorrow, either.
— Anthony DiComo (@AnthonyDiComo) September 18, 2024
The good news is that Lindor’s situation continues to be day-to-day, and there is no real fear of anything more. The bad news is that Lindor has yet to resume baseball activities, which could mean he’s nowhere near a return. With nothing likely changing until tomorrow, fantasy owners might want to start looking at alternatives for the weekend.
Kodai Senga – SP New York Mets (calf)
Kodai Senga’s goal is to make a one-inning rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse before its season ends on Sunday. He feels that’ll be enough to discern whether he’s at 100 percent and capable of pitching in the majors next week.
— Tim Britton (@TimBritton) September 18, 2024
From the sounds of things, it is looking like there is an outside shot of Senga returning to the Mets next week. If all goes well during his rehab outing this weekend, he could very well pitch for the Mets next week, possibly as a reliever. It would be a miraculous recovery for someone who has missed most of the season with various injuries.
Bo Bichette – SS Toronto Blue Jays (finger)
Bo Bichette took a ball off the middle finger while taking groundballs pregame, says John Schneider. Team waiting for results of X-rays. Likely out tomorrow. #BlueJays

This news came out of nowhere, and it’s a disappointing chapter in this never-ending saga of despair in 2024 for Bichette and the Blue Jays. It turns out that he suffered the injury while fielding groundballs before the game. The results of the X-rays have yet to be revealed, but there is a chance that he will miss the rest of the season here. Stay tuned.
Gavin Stone – SP Los Angeles Dodgers (shoulder)
Gavin Stone is “very unlikely” to return this season, Dave Roberts said
Stone is still experiencing soreness in his shoulder, and has not yet started throwing again
— Jack Harris (@ByJackHarris) September 18, 2024
It’s looking less and less like Stone will be able to contribute this season, whether it be for fantasy purposes or during the playoffs.
Clayton Kershaw – SP Los Angeles Dodgers (toe)
In better pitching news, Clayton Kershaw threw an 80-plus pitch bullpen session today — fully pushing off the mound with his injured toe
His timeline remains TBD, and still depends on his pain level, but there’s growing hope he’ll pitch again before the end of the regular season
— Jack Harris (@ByJackHarris) September 18, 2024
Finally, some positive news with regard to the Dodgers and their pitching. The important part here is that Kershaw is fully pushing off of the mound, thus able to get full extension on his pitches and properly place them. By doing this, he should be better able to get the velocity back and locate better. Whether or not he returns during the regular season is not as important as his return in the postseason.
Colt Keith – 2B Detroit Tigers (shoulder)
Colt Keith (right shoulder): “Feeling better than I thought it was going to feel. A little stiff, a little sore. Just taking it slow.”
Keith said medical tests came back “pretty clean.” He also said he feels confident he can return to games in the “next couple of days.” #Tigers https://t.co/hjvbKHY3sZ
— Evan Petzold (@EvanPetzold) September 18, 2024
From the sounds of it, Keith will return to the Tigers’ lineup at some point this weekend…..hopefully. With the team so close to the last Wild card spot, he may force his way back into that lineup to help.
Luis Arraez – 2B San Diego Padres (knee)
Luis Arraez's knee is still sore, but that's not exactly why he's out of the lineup, Mike Shildt said. Fernando Tatis Jr. had a scheduled DH day. (The Padres are adhering to a strict schedule in his return from a leg injury.) No need to push Arraez by playing him in the field.
— AJ Cassavell (@AJCassavell) September 18, 2024
It’s encouraging that Arraez’s knee isn’t the biggest reason for his absence. That being said, had this not been a “Tatis-at-DH” day, chances are that Arraez would have still been on the bench.
Trevor Williams – SP Washington Nationals (elbow)
Nats-Cubs pitching matchups …
THU: Corbin (LHP) at Assad (RHP)
FRI: Williams (RHP) at Taillon (RHP)
SAT: Gore (LHP) at Hendricks (RHP)
SUN: Irvin (RHP) at Imanaga (RHP)— Mark Zuckerman (@MarkZuckerman) September 18, 2024
Be prepared.
Kenley Jansen – RP Boston Red Sox (shoulder)
Jansen was dealing with a shoulder issue. But one out from a save, he wasn't coming out.
Bello starts tomorrow. Fitts on Friday.
— Pete Abraham (@PeteAbe) September 19, 2024
Jansen was visited by the team’s trainer midway through his outing last night. While he stayed in the game and got the save, he made it clear that he didn’t need to leave the game and was able to finish the job he started. That being said, he’s been off and on with various injuries this year, and, despite all that, has yet to miss time on the Injured List. That streak could end as the Red Sox finish their season next week.
